Horrible Temp Reading, off by hundreds of degrees.
Just look at my picture. I wrote the company with no response. I'm running electricity through magnet wire rated at 200C. The manufacturer said 100% that this magnet wire coating would melt at 200C. Well this IR thermometer says its 268C. Obviously wrong as my wire hasn't melted. My basic food thermometer is at 180C which I trust. DO NOT BUY!

This was exactly what I was looking for. I am not a contractor that uses a tool like this every day so I didn't want to invest a large sum of money; however, I did need to test my cooking stove as the surfaces seemed to be quite hot when the oven was operating. I wanted peace of mind that it was within the standards and not a fire hazard, as it is 45 years old. Subsequently, I found it fun to test other things such as my wood stove. I was most intrigued by the different temperatures taken at various points on the wood stove. Hopefully, I will get many years of use out of this product, but only time will tell. For now, I would definitely recommend this product to anyone with similar needs.
