(What's this)
This is a wonderful saw for cutting metals, plastic and wood. Light weight, compact and powerful. Its limited only by its 1 5/8" cutting depth. Its feels well balanced in your hand, the fit and finish are very nice. What's in the box: The saw, a 24 tooth 4 3/4" blade, a cutting fence, allen wrench for adjusting the cutting fence. This saw is intended to cut steel, aluminum and other light weight metal stock. I tested this saw on some 1/8" sheet steel and 3/8" x 6" aluminum bar. It cut both very well with a clean cut and no bucking. It's much better at cutting these metals than any other handheld saw that I have used. I also tested it on 1/4" Lexan plastic sheeting. It cut smoothly with and didn't crack like other saws I have used. The last test was on some scrap 1"x6" wood studs. It cut the wood very easy with a very little chipping or splintering. Since this saw is so light and maneuverable it can be used with one hand freeing the other to hold the work piece. The saw has a small fence that makes cutting the same size pieces very easy. The fence has a 180 degree bend on the outer end, this makes a great place to hold the saw with both hands and make a very straight cut with no binding. The saw blade is 4 3/4" diameter with a 3/8" arbor. This is a very rare sized blade but a 4 1/2" blade with the same sized arbor does fit and opens the door to using this on all types of materials. Just make sure that the 6000 PRM is shown on the blade. This little saw even has a saw dust collection box on the front under a clear door and it works well. This is a great little saw that cuts a multitude of materials with ease.

In the past, i have used a chop saw, hand grinder or Jig saw to cut metal. This saw is much better for most of what i do. It gives you the control of a circular saw and has the speed of cutting you would expect from much bigger saws. I zipped through some 1/8" metal pieces for a new fish fry pan. It's portable so not having to carry the piece to the chop saw every time was great. This is and will be a very handy shop tool!

At the beginning of the comprehensive instruction manual there are five pages of safety information. Five pages! What was I letting myself in for? With all that going round in my head I was expecting a tool that is temperamental, even difficult, to use. Well, I am very pleased to report that this saw is a delight to use. One handed operation is comfortable and controllable, as long as the operator is right handed. I wonder if Genesis makes a left handed version? It feels solid and well-made and I can imagine this tool working relentlessly all day long. This saw and blade combo can be used to cut mild steel and wood – see additional video here https://youtu.be/UDOLMQksEqY. The excellent blade slices through metal cleanly and creates masses of metal chips in the process. The chip collector catches some of them but there were still a lot of chips all over the work area. In the video they can be seen moving along the tool. I can vouch for the claimed cut depth as I also achieved a cut depth of 1 5/8”. The rip guide is accurately marked with both metric and SAE sizes. Now I wish to revise my earliest reservations about this tool and point out that the instruction book that accompanies the tool includes good, clear instructions and a wealth of safety information. The tool has a two year warranty.

My husband gives this compact metal cutting saw a triple A+. He needed to cut a 3/4” piece off a a thin 1”x.1/8”x 4” strip of steel. He secured the steel strip in a huge vise. He half way expected the saw to kick the strip out of the vise. The saw went through the strip like it was butter!! Wow!! This awesome little saw is such a handy size and weight. It is super easy to operate and plugs into any standard outlet with a ground plug. Just remember, the blade mounting nut loosens clockwise. This would be a great addition to any mechanic/handyman's toolbox. Well done!!

UPDATE. this saw will not work for cutting expanded metal, it knocks the carbide teeth off of the blade. Also the spindle has 2 flat spots to keep the washer and the blade from spinning, after trying to cut expanded metal with it those flats got rounded a little and made the center bolt for changing the blade had to remove. I think they should have gone with a little bigger shaft size, or a little harder steel on the shaft.

This saw works nicely and the blade cuts through metal no problem. It has a spindle lock for easy blade changing and the allen wrench stores in a holder on the cord. Would have been nicer to have the tool store in the saw, sometimes it is in the way on the holder on the cord. I cut steel from 1/16" to 3/8" thick even though the instructions saw only 1/8" to 1/4" and no thin sheet metal, they do make a blade for sheet metal and a dedicated blade for wood, I also cut several sizes of thick wall pipe. I also used it to cut plastic pipe (even though they don't list this as approved) and cut several pieces of wood up to a 2x4 and it worked great both cross cut and ripping. Max cut depth listed is 1 5/8" but the 2x4 is 1 3/4" and it cut all the way through. You can adjust the depth guide easily with the wing nut. The rip guide requires you to use the allen wrench, it would have been nice to have a wing nut on that also. This saw has the trigger lock, which is a little hard to use, it is not placed well. There is NO trigger lock to keep the saw running without holding the trigger. I think there is also a model without the trigger lock. The cord is 6 ft long, a couple of extra feet would be nice. The saw does not have the capability to angle the guide even though the stores description lists a cut depth for a 45 deg angle. There is a chip collector built in that works pretty well. The allen that holds the blade on is a reverse thread. This seems to be almost the same saw as the Genesis GCS545C, but if the metal blade which is slightly bigger (4 3/4" vs 4 1/2") would fit the wood version I would buy that saw instead as it has angle cut and you would save about $15 even after buying the metal blade, the only thing that you would give up would be the chip collector, but it would have a vacuum port. They saw feels nice in your hand and easy to hold, would be nice to have a removable front handle. This saw blade would be great for wood that has nails and screws in it. The instructions are fairly good but the description of how the blade goes on could be a little more clear. Conclusion: seem to be a well made saw and works as it should, and the blade cuts nicely in wood, aluminum, mild steel, brass and plastic.

I picked up the saw because I needed to cut some railings and pipes to size for a couples projects around the house. I was really impressed with quality of the saw and attention to detail in its design. The saw itself is made well enough to be dropped but has a very light and balanced feel to it. As you can see from the attached picture the cuts I made were all very clean and took extremely little effort. The addition of the easy removable rip guide was a great design as well. I attached the hex tool to the saw with some duct tape so I wouldn't lose it, as you need it for blade replacement and the rip guide.

The company is in China and I am having hard time to fullfill my warranty for this product.
I bought this unit couple years ago before I opened my homedepo Credit card. Hasnt been working very well eversince i got it. Blade rotates and stops when is on. I finally tried to call customer service and was told that they cant help me since I dont have my reciept. I usually keep reciept for more expensive item. I paid for this item and I found it extreme that they dont want to help me since I didnt have my reciept. I thought this company will stand behind their products regardless. Anyway I would have never bought this item if I knew that the company is not in US and not standing for their products. This company simply hire a warranty company in US to weed out the help they want to give their customers.

This worked very well when cutting 18 gage metal. I have not had a chance to use on material thicker than that. It is lighter than I thought it would be. I have other projects that I will be using this for.
