One of the Genie Products I’ve purchased!
These Safe-T-Beam sensors were packaged well and they were easy to install in an existing wires on both ends. Wish I could’ve purchased it sooner but I’m glad I have them now! Quality at its finest!

This product has been installed and is working fine. I like how it is easier to see the red and green lights on the sending and receiving units. I would have given the sensors a 5-star rating if the Sensors detached from the mounting frame as the printed instructions indicated and if the holes for the mounting screws had lined up better with those in the earlier model I was replacing.

hard winter replacement
Easy enough to break, built to be near the floor, hard to locate to a safe place for the switch. The new style is much improved over the older type which slides off the bracket.

Easy fix if you are handy
After 15 years of trouble-free service, my 1997 Safe-T-Beam sensor intermittently prevented the door from closing. The red LED on the STB transmitter module would blink 4 times, pause, and repeat, indicating the transmitter was not sending pulses to the receiver module across the garage. You can override the STB system by pushing and holding the wall control button until the door is completely closed, but it is much more satisfying (and much safer) to fix the problem. You can certainly replace the sensors using this kit. Or, armed with a Phillips screwdriver and a soldering iron, you can easily fix the transmitter instead of sending it to the landfill (I mean recycle it, of course!). In my case, the problem was the solder holding the IR LED (infrared light emitting diode) pins to the circuit board inside the transmitter module had cracked, probably from 15 years of thermal stress. Follow these steps to fix this problem. 1)Remove 2 screws to open the transmitter module. 2)Remove the screw holding the circuit board in place. 3)Remove the circuit board and locate the IR LED, which is the clear plastic bulb pointed at the lens. 4)Flip the board over and locate the IR LED mounting pins. The cracked solder is easily visible with a magnifying glass. 5)Re-solder the pins to the circuit board. 6)Reassemble the module and enjoy 15 more years of service!
