  • Upgrade your older style garage door remotes to Genie Intellicode
  • Eliminates interference with radio towers and military bases
  • Universal fitment to most brands of garage door openers
Many older models of garage door opener are still in use but have weak remote range or interference due to nearby radio frequencies. This Universal Garage Door Opener Remote Upgrade Kit will give your remote a much better signal and upgrade you to the modern Intellicode technology. If you have a garage door opener that operates on frequencies of 380-400 MHz and you live within 50 miles of a military base, airport or other government facility your garage door opener could be affected. In this case, the Genie GIRUD-1T Universal Conversion Kit can help. It works on auto-seek dual frequency technology that will automatically seek either the 315 or 390 MHz frequency produced by a remote, helping to ensure the opener will respond regardless of nearby frequency interference. This kit adds Intellicode security technology – which automatically changes the access code on each use to your older opener, helping to prevent unauthorized access to your garage. The GIRUD-1T kit comes with everything you’ll need for an easy installation and setup. Installation instructions guide you through the assembly process for the universal dual frequency receiver, plug-in 12v transformer and G3T-R remote control transmitter. The kit includes wire and wire clips as well as mounting screws. Does this work for a Genie Opener that has been in use since 1977ish? Genie support turned me onto this, but the specs say 1997 and up. Just wondering if anyone has tried it on older models?
Asked by: Sledge4cp
This conversion kit works through the button on the wall of the garage. It wires to that and requires power from a 120 volt outlet for operation. If you have a button on the wall that can be used to open the door, this conversion kit will work. Instructions are clear and the transformer adapter for conversion of the wall power is included as is a substantial amount of wire. The control wires connect from the conversion box to the push button switch. After the conversion box is powered on and properly wired, the included remote may be programmed to operate it from a significant distance. Some other remotes that may no longer work directly with the garage door opener may be programmed to operate with the conversion box.

Is this hard to install

Asked by: Lindz
This item is not hard to install, however will require having to be on a ladder, and the kit will need to be screwed into the ceiling next to the operator.

Can I program 2 openers to this and have them, work on separate buttons?

Asked by: Dtokeo
Yes, you can program up to 3 openers on the transmitter that comes with this set (the hand held remote). And you can program several remotes to work with the receiver (the base unit). For example - we use this base unit to control the gate to our property. Between my son and myself we each have a remote in our separate cars to press to open the gate. I have the first (top) button programmed to communicate with this unit. I have also programmed my same remote to work with my garage door opener. There are some compatibility issues with some types of garage door openers, but it works with most. Here is an excerpt from the instructions to program the remote - • Locate the "Learn Code" button and LED indicator on the black box • use a pointed object and Press and release the "Learn Code" button. The LED indicator will start blinking. Press and release the button on the remote you want to program; then the LED on the black box glow steadily. Press the same remote button again and the LED indicator will go out. • To check that the button has been programmed correctly, press the button on the remote again; the door should operate. If it does not, carefully repeat the steps above. And remember to clear all people, pets, ladders, vehicles and other obstructions from the garage door’s path before activating. • Repeat the steps above for multiple doors and/or remotes with multiple buttons.

will this work with a Pro 8200 opener. our unit is 27 years old
Asked by: Luckyman
We have a "Pro 82" about the same age and it works fine with it, so if the "Pro 82" and the "Pro 8200" have the same components it should work just fine. FYI: The "Pro 82" is an one third horse power opener. I'm guessing that you may have a larger motor.
