The new innovative wall mount designed Genie smart garage door opener model 6170 eliminates the traditional rail design. This Genie wall mount garage door opener features the Aladdin Connect smart home control (certified to Work With Alexa) plus an integrated battery backup. This wall mount garage door opener easily attaches directly to the garage door's spring tube mounted high and to the side of the garage door. This design opens all the space above where the cars would park in your garage. Often referred to as a residential jackshaft garage door opener, the wall mount models also include the newest Genie garage door opener accessories. Featuring the Genie wireless wall console, Bluetooth LED light, and remote garage door lock. This Genie wall mount garage door opener features an integrated Aladdin Connect smart garage capability that provides the ability to remotely monitor and control your garage door with your smart device. It works in conjunction with your home Wi-Fi and is certified to Work With Alexa. The 6170 also includes a battery backup Getting in about out of your garage during a power outage has never been easier than when your Genie battery backup kicks in. This battery backup makes this model compliant with the California State Law SB-969, which requires all installed garage door openers in that state to have a battery backup.

Works on doors 14' high and with up to 84" of high-lift

I installed four of these on our new pole barn, three with high lift doors. The Chamberlin wouldn't work for me as it only allows up to 54" of high lift, whereas the Genie allows 84". The three high lift doors are 9'x10' and one door is 14'x10'. This opener handles all of them without issue. The first install took me about five hours and there were things about the design I found annoying, but the other three took me two hours each so I guess it's not that bad. You're supposed to get the set screws "finger tight" but there's no way those screws are moving without a wrench. Before you get on your lift or ladder, go ahead and tighten down the three set screws on the opener and get the three that will go on the drum shaft as tight as possible without pushing through the collar. I found a 7/16" 12 point socket works way better than a crescent wrench. I'd also recommend practicing connecting the wires for the optical sensor before you're up in the air trying to work upside-down. Once the openers are installed, they're crazy quiet and work well. I added the outdoor keypad (which can control three doors) and one additional wall console. Programming everything was pretty straightforward but I'd love a way to do it with my feet on the ground! A rented lift made everything much easier.

It stopped working twice on me already. The first time I had to installer come back out and he had to reset the limits. The second time it just started working again after a day. I’ve had it for less than a month but so far it hasn’t been a great experience.

Absolutely Love these side wall garage door openers. Frees up all your ceiling space and SUPER QUIET!! No messy wires running through the garage making for a cleaner look. We like how the lights shine into the garage rather then down from the ceiling.
Very please we purchased these for our 9ft garage doors.
Would ABSOLUTELY recommend!
Note did take a bit of extra time installing but worth it.

This thing is so quiet! Very easy to install as well. You'll need power by the opener itself, so I ran conduit across my ceiling and tapped into the old opener power source. I like the app as well as it alerts me when the door is left open too long and automatically close it if I want. I highly recommend this opener!

Just great. Got a Liftmaster, first sent it back. Liftmaster has a cable tension monitor on it that that could not be installed due to the configuration of the door at my house. Got the Genie installed it myself no problem...works great. Quiet...battery back up....can be controlled from your phone...alerts to your phone if the door is opened or closed... Liftmaster says not to use it more than 10 times in an hour. We use the garage door to access the house. Genie does not say it has limits. It does everything the Liftmaster does
