A: Like traditional acid-etching formulations, Eco-Etch 1001 breaks down the surface by chemically reacting with the concrete to remove the top layer. The concentration level (and dwell time) can have a direct impact on the effectiveness of the reaction. The longer you allow it to dwell, the more aggressive the etching. Dilution can also impact strength of the etching. Based on the information provided, there is high probability the etching process was not complete. Strength and/or dwell time was not sufficient enough to achieve a consistent etch. We recommend applying the product a second time and allow a longer dwell time before rinsing. Note: Longer dwell times will increase surface porosity and profile. Concrete etchers are typically used to prepare surfaces for a top coating. If your goal is cleaning the concrete, we would recommend a cleaner like MicroDegreaser 1100 or a bleach/water mixture.
A: Thanks for showing an interest in Ghostshield. In liquid form, this product is labeled as corrosive to metals and can cause eye damage. It can be harmful if swallowed. It can cause mild skin irritation. Once applied to a concrete surfaces and let dry, your children and pets are safe to walk on any treated surface.
A: Thanks for showing an interest in Ghostshield. Etching compounds are designed to breakdown the top layer of concrete (or paver). They are typically used to create a surface profile suitable for a coating. Some people may use etchers to dissolve a top layer of concrete that contains permanent stains they were unable to remove using a degreaser or surface cleaner. Be aware that etchers are designed to break down concrete. If you are concerned about this happening, I would start with Ghostshield MicroDegreaser 1100. If you are unable to remove the dirt, grime or stains, Ghostshield Eco-Etch 1001 would be the second choice.
