A: Giani may be applied to concrete counters as long as they are indoor, fully cured, and free of concrete sealer. If there is a sealer on the surface, you’ll need to use a xylene or lacquer thinner to remove it. Be sure to follow all of the manufacturer’s instructions regarding ventilation and extinguishing pilot lights, because xylene/lacquer thinner is very flammable! After you’ve used the xylene or lacquer thinner, follow with rubbing alcohol to remove all residue. It is typically a good idea to acid wash the surface to prep for paint adhesion. You can find some tips on acid washing concrete on this page https://www.wikihow.com/Acid-Wash-Concrete. Be sure to let your counters dry out for several days before beginning the process. Concrete is very porous, so even if the surface feels dry to the touch, more moisture will need to evaporate from the underneath layers of the surface.
A: Our paints are not lumpy after being produced. The only way our paints would be lumpy, is if the product experienced a deep freeze or if the product was well past its shelf life.
A: Unfortunately the epoxy cannot be used over large vertical surfaces. I would recommend purchasing our high gloss topcoat separately and using it to seal the white primer and veins. You would apply the white primer and veining paints then apply the acrylic topcoat to the backsplash. Once the acrylic backsplash is dry you would then apply the epoxy too the horizontal part of your countertop. We would love to speak to you personally about this! Please feel free to reach out to us through our website.
