Solid all metal construction with the flag spaced so it won't scratch the paint. Used the HD aluminum post which was simple bolt on. The post is a little short so you will have to set in cement.

This is one well built, very sturdy, heavy gauge mailbox. It was a bit bigger than I thought, but that's a plus. I found the matching aluminum post for it from the same manufacturer on line. It was a sleeve that slips over and bolts to the existing wood post to make one uniform look. The install was fairly easy once you decided on which option of predrilled holes on the plate to use. The neighbors all noticed and commented on how they love it. Not your typical mailbox, a little dressier. I especially like the way the door magnetically closes. My mail person never pushed the old one all the way closed and sometimes the mail got wet. I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could. There's always room for some improvement.

Can't believe I'm reviewing a mailbox...
I don't typically leave reviews online, but this time I felt I had to say something. This mailbox looks nice enough. However I have 3 major issues with it.
1) the door sticks. Badly. Mailboxes have literally one job, and the one part that's integral to this mailbox doing its job takes a considerable amount of force to open and close. I'm a 40yo man in good shape and I feel like I'm pulling the box off its post when I try to open it.
2) the flag is rusting. It was installed in Aug 2019 and by Dec 2019 there was visible rust. My area was in a drought during this time, so it's not like it was facing a monsoon for 4 months.
3) it is wobbly on the base that it is supposed to be compatible with. Now the post that I bought has paint rubbing off because the mailbox does not sit securely. All screws are tight and it was installed according to directions.
I would not buy this again and would advise others to find another brand.

Haven't had the chance to mount this mailbox yet, but the weather is getting better every day ... this is a substantial, solidly built mailbox, quite sturdy and somewhat heavy! Just the door is noticeably heavier than my last one. Very attractive color for our wooded property, and the mounting should be easy to do, as there are any number of ways to choose. I have circled on one photo how there is a strong magnet in the door, and it meets nicely with a metal flange within the box itself. It's just about foolproof!

This thing is huge! The mailbox looks really nice and seems to be well built. The front trim of the door is plastic and the flag seems sturdy. I had to take a 2x12X2 board and cut it down to make a base. The county puts up a specific post for us to mount a mailbox on and it is just a thin post so I had to mount the mailbox and make a pressure treated rear bracket to hold it because it is so tall and long. No trips down my 600 foot driveway for the mailman anymore. I am going to really enjoy having this mailbox.

The Gibraltar steel post mount large mailbox in Venetian bronze is a large and strong box made of galvanized steel and painted with a powder coated finish. The box requires a optional steel bracket for mounting or will mount to a 12inch by 6 inch piece of 1 inch board. Has multiple mounting options pre drilled into the box. I noticed the door is not only decorative but strong with a magnetic door latch for solid door closure. The box is deep and will accommodate those large magazines or letters. There is space on side for optional numbering if so desired. The steel flag to advise of out going mail is sturdy and sure to catch the mail carriers attention. The box with the right mounting will appear flush with top of pole.

Bought 6 boxes .. every one was defective with bad door or painted over dents .. some boxes already were opened and returned, then sealed with tape .. all returned, bought different company product .. waste of time .. do not buy
