Patriot Large, Plastic, Post-Mount Mailbox, Black

Easy to install. Definitely big. But a little flimsy.

This mailbox easily mounted to my Gibraltar post. What I liked the most is that I can see the pop up flag from my front window to know when the postman had arrived. Also liked how deep this mailbox is so that I can also get mid size packages.

I love our new mailbox. The only downfall is the plastic. I love the yellow flag to indicate mail has arrived. I love the water proof which is why I went with plastic, it wont rust. The mailbox and gold letters came from home depot. the post is from Montgomery Wards

I just replaced the exact same mailbox that I bought and installed over ten years ago - maybe 15 years. This is an inexpensive mailbox that is wide enough for 9x12 envelopes and other large packages to fit and lie flat. The red flag is to indicate you have mail in the box for the postman to pick up. The yellow flag pops up when the door has been opened, meaning you have mail. You can see it from a distance. Mounts very easily to a piece of 1x6 lumber that is 17" long (you add the lumber). That is, cut a piece of 1x6 yellow pine 17" long. Screw that to the top of your mailbox post, and then you can set this box over that board. There are 4 holes on each side of the lip under this box. Use a 1-1/2" or 2" drywall screw in each hole, a total of 8 screws, I used #6 1-1/2" fine thread black drywall screws, and they held up for a decade or more no problem. Home Depot will cut that board for you if you don't have a saw handy. If you buy white or yellow pine, you can probably even drive the screws in by hand. You could even use nails, though screws are more secure. I recommend painting the board black with some spray paint just so it is protected a bit more from the elements. It has held up very well in the Texas sun over many summers, and I recommend it completely. I was thrilled that they still made the exact same model.

Easily mounted on pressure treated 2x4 (has slot in the bottom that fits perfectly). Bought two, mounted side by side on a single post mount using a third 2x4 as a cross beam / H configuration. Looks great, fits large packages, and I even mounted a battery powered door sensor that connects to my automation network and sends me a text on my phone whenever the front flap is opened by the mail service (and triggers my camera to record the event)

A school bus backed into our old mailbox during mid Sept. 2019. At the end of Sept., we replaced it with a Gibraltar (material plastic/color black). Home Depot has many mailboxes to choose from, but the Gibraltar meets our needs & looks great. Prior to installing the Gibraltar, we painted it & the existing vinyl post cover brown so that they would match. Home Depot has many colors of spray paint to choose from, so color choice was no problem. We wanted a hard plastic mailbox because the mailbox is located next to our grandson's basketball goal & plastic mailboxes do not dent when hit with a basketball. The mailbox was under $30, easy to paint, easy to assemble, & easy to install. This mailbox is larger than our last one, so I'm sure that will make mail deliveries more convenient. The red flag is bigger, too, & that helps us to see it in the up or down position from our front door. Concerning my dislikes... I dislike the thought of a school bus destroying our old mailbox, but replacing it with a Gibraltar from Home Depot was a Win Win. The School Board is going to reimburse us for the cost of the Gibraltar. Lastly, note in our attached picture that our cat likes our new mailbox, too. He left his paw prints all over it. :-) Thank you.

Reasonable price, works just fine.

Easy to install, works very well with the Gibraltar cedar drive-in mailbox post - no mounting plate needed. Our postal carrier said she likes our box much better- easier to get to and smoother. We mounted it about 6" higher than our old mailbox. Note that the yellow "mail is here" flag can be assembled on either side of the mailbox. That's a key feature for us- we needed it on the left side of the box, but the photo shows it on the right. Turns out, it comes disassembled, and you just snap it on to either side, then snap a cover-cap on the opposing side. The whole thing went together very easily.

I wish the little tiny you got mail indicator was bigger but I still love it. Our mail is delivered between 10 am or 6 pm and this saves me multiple trips to check.

Perfect and easy install and you can tell when mail is delivered with the little plastic yellow flag ....The yellow flag can go on either side.
