This cedar oil was perfect as a final touch after cleaning our barn for a retirement party. Not only does it add to the sensory effect of the barn wood, but I’ll also take note of its effect on bug reduction. Either way, it sure smells wonderful!

Stripped 2 Coats of paint off of 80 year old Cedar chest. Then used this Cedar oil product after final sanding to coat and protect surfaces both inside and out. It moisturized the wood and left a nice scent... The wood was dry and the oil soaked right in - no oily residue to speak of and the result was amazing. I then added a cushion and not only have a beautiful cedar chest but additional seating as well!!

I inherited a very old cedar chest that had sat in a basement for years. It was definitely in need of reconditioning inside and out. I used the cedar oil on the inside of the chest. It did a great job. The old musty smell was gone and it smelled just like a new cedar chest. I could see a difference in the color of the cedar wood as well. Great product.

If you own natural wood furniture the cedar oil will be a plus, because protect the wood and give the room a wonderful cedar perfume, I own different pieces of furniture for more than 15 years and they look new thanks to the cedar oil.

I wish we had "Smell-O-Photos"!
My husband and I have an older home. We've been replacing, repairing and renovating for 20+ years. I am currently converting a spare bedroom into my walk in closet/dressing room. I purchased Giles and Kendall Cedar Oil to use in place of polyurethane. As you can see, it brings out the natural beauty of the wood, it smells AMAZING and provides an added bonus of insect/moth protection. Great bang for the buck! Home Depot is our go-to-store for our personal and business needs and once again, you have not let me down. I normally shop, in store. This product was only available on line. Shipped much faster than they indicated. Packaged well and received in great condition. In store and on line...winner, either way!

Exactly what I had hoped it would be
Most of my purchases start by reading reviews. As with almost all products the reviews for this oil were mixed. Some people complained about it being too strong, or "not like cedar".
Well, my opinion is that unless the manufacturer is lying that's BUNK. The can clearly states that it's 100% cedar oil steamed from cedar wood. That being the case, there's no "turpentine" or any other solvent.
I found this to smell EXACTLY like the cedar lining that is stocked next to the can. It's eastern red cedar oil. Period.
I mainly wanted to use the oil to darken or enrich the color of the cedar that I installed in a blanket chest and it did that just fine. It's not super rich, like you might get with boiled linseed oil, but you don't want to put anything on cedar that would block the natural oils. I did expect more of a sheen, but that's not what happens. Once it dries (quickly, hours) it's pretty flat.
I do think it's a bit expensive, but it goes a long way and I'm sure it's a pricey process to extract from the wood.
