A:  When you say an impact drill, are you talking about an impact tool or a rotary hammer drill? The drill should be a variable speed drill, but the question is what type of drill bit. The drill bit should be either a diamond bit or a bit that says it is for ceramic or porcelain. The size of the bit is determined by the size of the insert to hold the screw or the screw if you are screwing into wood.

    A:  You need a drill bit made specifically for drilling into tiles. Use a regular drill do not use an impact drill.

              Q:What is the diameter of the brackets and the width between screws. I am replacing an old shower curtain and will need to use existing screw holes in the walls.
