AnswerHello Curiouser, Yes, The Gear track channels and panels are used the same and are interchangeable with hanging the product. Gear wall panels are designed to stack one on top of the other, Gear track channels are not designed to stack.

AnswersAs long as you use a smaller drill and tapping screw to go into the stud. You will need a larger drill for the hole in the plastic. I would double screw(top and bottom) with steel studs.

I am quite pleased with the Gladiator GearTrack Garage Hook Kit. I needed to hang a typical assortment of garage tools (yard shovels, snow shovels, rakes,saws) and a couple of car bike racks. After reviewing an excellent online comparison of the Gladiator and Rubbermaid racks (both of which were viewed favorably), I opted for the Gladiator kit, actually getting two of them for a total of 16' of length.
What I liked:
1) The plastic rail is really strong, but very "drillable" at any point along the horizontal channel lines. One can always drill into the stud, no matter if they are not on 16" centers.
2) The supplied self tapping screws were excellent.
3) Hanging was easy. I used my laser level, tacked another board on the wall at the laser line, set the 4' rack piece on top of the "tack board", and quickly put up the 4' sections without difficulty.
3) The assortment of hooks in the box was very good. This was probably one of my biggest concerns, as buying a bunch of hooks separately seemed to drive the cost up, plus, an assortment of hooks was not on display at Home Depot, being only available by special order.
4) The price for 8' of channel and 8 hooks was reasonable at Home Depot at $60 for the kit.
5) My wife was really happy.

The GearTrack is easy to install. The only challenge may be lining it up so you can screw into 3 studs. The Mesh Basket is perfect for random gear: small balls, large action figures, beach toys etc.

Inconsistent production - but great product for the money
I purchase several sections with and without accessories, and love the product. It works great for what I needed. But I noticed that depending on if you buy the track by itself or bundled with hooks the measuremenrs are slightly off and do not align end to end perfectly. It was slightly annoying, but I got over it. I would buy this product again, and recommend

I like the fact that the Geartrack is shorter than the 48" and 96" options. I would have preferred to just buy the track and not the hooks but they work just fine. Great for tight spaces where 48" GearTracks won't fit.

Great product!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got this in last week and installed it in the garage near the entry door. It was extremely easy to install and it looks great. It is well made from a durable composite material and 6 steel hooks. It comes with 2 double hooks and 4 single hooks which is plenty to hang whatever you need. You do have to be careful installing the end caps. I actually broke the plastic tabs that hold it in place but it was my fault and not the product itself.

I use this in my shed and it is a convenient space-saver. I use all six hooks, they are very versatile and can be put anywhere on the track. They are also rubber coated for durability and to prevent damage to tools. I have owned a few Gladiator systems over the years and this was the best one and packaged very well. It comes with white-headed screws and a driving bit for attaching. I only attached it to three points but it is still pretty sturdy. I drove the screws with an impact driver that made things easy. I was able to mount snow shovels, power tools and some attachments off of it. (see pictures) Overall, I am very pleased with this set, especially sturdy and versatile hooks.
