Holden 70 in. Brushed Steel Floor Lamp

On the website, this lamp looks simple and modern. It is well priced, even. But looks can be deceiving. Unless you assemble it just right, it wobbles. And to get the streamlined, contemporary look, you need a special bulb....which is hard to find. And it burns out frequently. Our household prefers a standard long life bulb, which is too bright and strange looking in this type of fixture. Even the assembly directions could be fine tuned. The on/off switch is a foot pedal on a cord that is very short. But at the low price tag, you may find it works for you. For us, not so much.

The floor lamp is delivered in a compact packaging in which you need to assemble. No tools are needed. Fairly simple to put together. Just make sure to screw the metal pieces together evenly. Just like a screw top on a glass jar. Make sure to screw on evenly. Mine was ordered in white and very modern/contemporary. The floor lamp takes up little space and should fit in compact areas without being obtrusive. A light bulb must be purchased separately. At first I thought this was a negative. However, I like the idea as you can purchase a lightbulb design that you want to match with your decor. It requires a 60 max medium base bulb. The foot operated on/off switch is great. The complete lamp weighs about 9 pounds with the base being at least 7 pounds of total weight. This gives the lamp a sturdiness and should not tip over easily. The attached pictures do not include the final place in my home or the light bulb. However, you can at least get an idea. I am 72" tall and the lamp in 70" high. Great size in my opinion.

We just put up this Holden indoor floor lamp. It was very easy to put it together. I like the new look . As i was putting this lamp up in my daughter's room. i ask, where is the lamp shade? What no lamp shade. So my daughter tells me dad I No it's a minimalist look .Oooo but, she like the lamp . This lamp has the foot step switch to turn on and off the light. Very easy to uses. So if its daughter approved. I like it...

I got this lamp because it was a simple design and could be added to any decor. When I received the box and pulled open the tape it was just cubes of soft Styrofoam filling the box. The pieces of lamp were packaged this way to prevent damage. Once you get over the styrofoam mess, the lamp itself was simple to put together. You are literally twisting each section into each other. It takes more time to open the packaging than put together this lamp. I couldn't wait to see how the lamp looked and how much light it brought to my bedroom. There is not a lightbulb included with the lamp, so I used one I already had. It was blinding and might not be for the person who is light sensitive. Keep this in mind when purchasing or ordering this lamp. I got lower wattage amber Edison bulbs. The lamp now has a vintage look and gives a warm glow to the room. A bonus with this lamp is there is a foot switch attached to the cord. This is a very convenient feature but what I haven't figured out yet is how to hide the excess cord. I added a picture to show you that once plugged in you have to have some cord pulled out to allow the foot switch to be reachable. The rest of cord just lays there. There is nowhere to coil it up under the lamp base. It's still a great stylish lamp and I also purchased the matching table lamp.

Globe Electric Holden 70 in. Black Indoor Floor Lamp is well made and attractive. The finish makes it very durable, nice heavy base. It has a great remote foot switch. I mean it's separate and down the cord a bit. Works perfect. Now, it's real easy to put together. Start at the bottom and screw the first section on to the base while pulling gently on the cord, then the next section, on up the line, same as before until you get to the last straight section. Then screw the bulb socket on to the crook and pull the wire backward to take up the slack, pull gently, it pulls easily. Then pull the wire from the bottom until the slack is taken out between the crook and the straight section and screw them together and the lamp is complete. No issues at all doing that. 5 minutes assembly and I was off trying out light bulbs. Very nice, extremely pleased. I think it will last a long time.

I love the simple clean look of this lamp and have been looking for the perfect way to display my oversized light bulb. This lamp has a very stylish look about it and can fit in almost any room. From opening the package to taking the pictures for this review we are talking a matter of a few minutes. It has a foot switch to turn it off and on which can be very handy in the right situation. In my case I would of rather had a switch by the light bulb to hand turn it off an on. The only real problem I had with this lamp is the pole itself, it comes in several pieces prewired, all you have to do it screw those pieces together. The problem is even when I went out of my way to screw them together straight, it still came out crooked. Easy fix is just to bend it straight, which you can do by hand, just would of preferred a stronger straight connection.

I received my lamp almost 2 weeks after ordered. I wasn't expecting this lamp to be anything fancy (considering the price) but I had read reviews on Amazon and it seemed to be what I was looking for. When I opened the box, the lamp was covered in debris inside the plastic wrapping. There were no assembly instructions whatsoever. The piece where the bulb is inserted to was broken and after inserting the bulb I noticed it wasn't straight either (bulb is at an angle). There is also a design flaw since when assembling the lamp you have to screw the pieces on and this causes the cable to twist itself. I was scared it would break and now I worry about how long the lamp will be able to function with the cable twisted as it is.

Looks good in our Victorian home that needed more lighting. The minimalist look is perfect; I was looking for something affordable but not cheap looking. Metal dents/bends easily, be careful.
