Formulated for a lighter weight, the Gold Bond 1/2 in. x 4 ft. x 8 ft. High Strength Lite Gypsum Board is sag-resistant and easier to handle. Ideal for both ceilings and walls, this versatile board gets the job done regardless of application. For a custom look, this specialty board takes paint, textured coatings and other decorative treatments.

AnswerThis product can be used on ceilings in a garage if there is an attic above. If the space above is habitable, then 5/8" Type X gypsum board is required on the ceiling.

AnswersNo, never! You don’t want anything heavy above you. Suspended ceilings are not made for that kind of weight. Imagine an earthquake with that falling down on you. Acoustical tile would be the best option.

AnswersDrywall should be attached with screws that go at least 5/8" into the wood, so for 1/2" drywall use 1 1/4" screws or longer.

No straight edges
I hauled around 30 sheets up my stairs to the second floor just to find out the edges were over a 1/4” out of square from top to bottom. See pic.

Bought this for an attic I was finishing. I used it on the walls, sloped ceiling, and flat ceiling. It's lighter than some but supposedly still good to be used in ceilings. It seemed to go up ok, and I'm not immediately worried about the ceilings sagging - everything seems pretty secure, but we'll see what time brings.
