This stuff works! I scrubbed for hours with it, but it was worth it because my white carpet is now back to normal. I regret not taking before & pics (after pic is included), but I was so upset at myself for spilling paint on the brand new carpet, I just wanted to get down to business & get it off. I used the whole bottle, but the time it took & the small expense made on it saved me a few thousand dollars of reinstalling new carpet. Thank you Goof Off. You were a God-sent, indeed!

It didn’t take any of the paint out of the rug!!! Besides the big spot there are other spots that didn’t come out either. Have to buy a new rug now. Never will purchase those products again!!!!!

Wow it worked like it was described to. Kid spilled paint on floor when Grandma wasn’t looking. Purchased this after a recommendation from a friend. Brown Paint was removed after following directions. No issues w/ light carpet after. Awesome stuff !

I always have Goof Off around for removing stubborn messes, especially tar, and it was not until I saw this that I realized there were so many varieties of Goof Off. It turns out Goof Off has specially formulated a range of solvent products to remove stains / marks / spills safely from a variety of surfaces. At the end of the day it does no good to remove a stain from a surface if you destroy the surface in the process. So I decided to give the paint on carpet cleaner a try. We took a couple of carpet samples and spilled some latex paint on them and let them set before trying to clean them. The bottom line is - if you spill paint on carpet the longer you let it dry the more work you are going to have to do. With freshly spilled paint that has just set up, the Goof Off worked like a champ. The paint we let fully dry took a lot of scrubbing. Will definitely keep this in my arsenal of cleaning supplies for cleaning up paint on more delicate surfaces though.

Depending how large your stain, or composition of this stain is will ultimately determine how successful you are in removing the paint stain. Cleans decently when the stain is fairly fresh however it takes considerable reapplications of this spray to mitigate the stain. Stain removal is more successful with fresh latex than oil based enamels. This Goof-Off paint remover is especially effective with stain removals of fresh aerosol sprayed paints ut then again, multiple re-applications are needed for a “thorough” stain removal. If it boils down to throwing away a rug or attempting to remove a stain, you’ve basically nothing to lose by using this product.

Goof Off 12 oz. Paint Remover for Carpet
Well if you have to spill paint on the carpet then this is definitely the product you want to have by your side.
I tested it out on a throw rug I deliberately dropped some paint on it then waited a couple of days To try and get the paint out of the rug.
Well after spraying it and letting it soak for a few minutes i scrubbed it a few times and I was pleasantly surprised at how well the paint came out.
This item would probably work best if you use it right away after spilling paint on your carpets. Of course I only tested a few spots.
I’m still a bit apprehensive about making a larger spill to use.
But it worked great on my throw rug and I would recommend it.

About six months ago, a painter accidentally spilled a large amount of white paint onto our living room carpet. He was able to clean up the majority of the mess, but several large ghostly white spots remained on our dark brown carpet. We tried a regular carpet cleaner, but there was no improvement, and my wife has been pushing to buy new carpet. I tried the Goof Off cleaner, and ... IT WORKED. Per instructions, I used rubber gloves, sprayed the affected area heavily with the Goof Off, waited 5 minutes, rubbed with a towel, and then blotted it dry. The next day I ran over the area with a vacuum cleaner and you absolutely cannot tell there was any paint on the carpet. Amazing.
I can only come up with two small "negatives". 1. You really should wear rubber gloves when you use this stuff, and 2. this product has an odd aroma. Not obnoxious, just "odd". Actually, I noticed the odor, but my wife could barely detect it, so maybe I am slightly allergic. In any case, the odor went away in a few days and a few days of an unusual smell is a lot less pain than buying a large living room carpet.

This product works well for cleaning fresh paint off of carpet. I tested this product by painting three test stripes on a carpet with latex interior paint, latex primer, and oil based paint. I allowed the paint to dry for one hour. The product did well at dissolving both latex paints and was slower on the oil based paint. I tried the product on old paint on a carpet in my shop and it didn't work for that.
One thing that this product does well, which is not on the label, is that it cleans my epoxy painted gray concrete shop floor. When I spray the product on the floor and wipe it with a rag it instantly cleans the floor. All of the staining that I can't get off with other products can be instantly wiped away. After I wipe away the staining, I go back and rinse with water to prevent the cleaner from dissolving the epoxy paint on the concrete floor. I recommend adequate ventilation for this product.
