Yes, it will help achieve the correct pitch.
I used Pre-Pitch to do my 6’ x 4’ shower pan. It’s great! I’d use it again if I had another project.
I’m not really sure we used this to get the perfect pitch for drainage because we were making the pan using the cement mix, it’s not easy but worth the time! If you have a pan I would think it was prefabbed to have the correct pitch, I had a prefabbed pan break so I wanted to stay clear of that.
My shower was custom size too, about 3 by 5. I can't see why it wouldn't work but since your shower is longer I don't remember if the pieces are that long. Where there is a will there is a way. I know this kit made it a lot easier.
Use sikaflex around it first.
My drain is farther to the front of my shower and it worked for me, manufacturer will answer any questions you have they were very helpful
I did a small prepitch first free hand, then liner, then used kit for final pitch. Works great.
Go to the manufacturers website and there is a video there
you can buy extensions
The shower pan drain should “lock” or “pinch” the membrane sealed. After that, any drain trim piece that can be threaded into that piece and remain at the proper height with slope will work. I set my trim pieces and then tape them very well to protect them from being scratched.
