is 7 inches of soil deep enough to plant tomato plants?

Asked by: Jan
No, I plant tomatoes about a foot deep here in New England. When I lived in a 10 month frost free environment, 18" deep. Tomatoes will grow in 7" of soil. You will not, however, get 7 to 9 foot plants that produce over 50 pounds of tomatoes.

What is the thickness of these boards? Elsewhere I've seen the same product at .5" thick, which is very thin. Are these really almost an inch thick? Thank you!
Asked by: gardener
No. I didn't measure them, but I think they are closer to .5 inches.
