First, look at the "attic card" under the documents for the product on Greenfiber's website. It indicates that at 8.81 inches settled thickness, the R value is 32. You can then use their insulation calculator (still on their website) to figure out how many bags you need for R32 and 1200 SF.

You need a minimum of 87 bags, so two pallets plus 15 bags. I would suggest getting 3 pallets and adding 11 inches taking you to a R-48. 72 bags will not do the job to your desired R value.

All-borate cellulose is intended for higher humidity installations. From their website: "All of this formula is treated with boric acid, which is perfect for climates that are extremely hot, cold, or humid. It’s ideal for any blow-in installations like attics and can also be dry blown into walls and floors if desired." I have used it several times (Home Depot has the best price/ease of acquiring in my area), including my own residence and have found it to be virtually odor-free. For 1800 square feet your attic requirement would be appx. 83 bags. See calculator here: https://www.greenfiber.com/products/765ld-all-borate-loose-fill-insulation .

Per specification sheet: https://images.homedepot-static.com/catalog/pdfImages/ba/ba9d9872-e5da-404b-988b-0d675eec75db.pdf R60 is 17.96" high, 1 x 30lb bag covers 13.7 square feet area. You will need 73.1 bags for each 1000 square feet multiply that by 7. Consider contracting the job to someone. That is a huge job, lots of dust. Not recommended for use in basements / crawler spaces as it retains moisture.

I calculated according instructions on website and 1. it was too much, 2. Machine is given only for one day no matter how big the order. I was able to get extra day of use of machine but we worked it from early morning till late night to get all in! My order was 2 palettes. I advise to buy at store no more that 20 boxes at a time and to see if more needed to do buy more next day. I satisfied with insulation result. Also there are only one machine for this type of installation in my area! I had to go 20 miles to get it! So check with your store first. Costumer service wasn't helpful. It was actually misleading as I called before my order to verify if machine is available and if I will be permitted to use it longer. All was resolved in store by store manager. Talk to the store directly!!!

I had to special order this product because inexplicably, none of the stores in my area stock it. I ordered an entire pallet of 36 bags, which was loaded onto my truck with a forklift. I chose this product because of the borate treatment, purported flame resistance and sound dampening. Before installation, I flame tested samples both fluffed and dense pack with a propane torch. The result is sublimation or smoldering which stops almost immediately after the flame is removed. I was able to install the product without use of the machine by mechanical maceration and fluffing in place. Dense pack in wall is time consuming but not difficult.

Mutliple issues here. Praying for future good results. Product not stocked. Had to special order. Then 4 local stores did not carry the blower. We had to call ourselves and drive 40 mi to get one. Then a 4 hour job took 8 hours, and the blocks were so dense we had to break them in chunks. Even with two people on the blocks opening and breaking them apart. Other videos show the product crumbling in your hands. That did Not happen. When we finished we were 15 bags short, which was wrong because we bought a few extra to be sure. The blower did not fluff it up enough. So we had to go back in the attic and spread it by hand. I don't know if it's the product or the blower, but we now have to buy more and get another blower rental. Defintely not the easy DIY job we were expecting. We probably have R60 in some areas. I sure hope this works and keeps the bills down. We have not reduced the AC yet. We went from batts to organic in a 1800 sf single story, attic only. The house seems to retain way more humidity now, but we will see. It's East Tx. So the humidity is bad to begin with. Very nervous we made a mistake using this and not attic cat.

When looking to purchase your product, we were pleased to find that the product is made with recyclable paper materials, free of unhealthy substances and 2-3 times denser than fiberglass. Also its Class 1A fire rating is outstanding, as well as, the sound barrier benefits. We found breaking up the insulation for loading into the hopper was easy and the blower machine was simple to use. We were very pleased that we received plenty of hose when we rented it which made is easy to install the insulation into confirmed areas of the attic. (The video was much appreciated!) The product was purchased on 5/13 and the three of us (Dad, Mom & son) installed it last Saturday (5/30) after we got clearance from COVID-19. Yes, the product and machine met our expectations. (Check out the wooden bin my husband built to make the process easier and neater with much less clean-up. AND we did use safety glasses and masks while working ..... we just removed them for the photo shoot. )

This is my second 500 pound pallet delivery to my home. I’ve been dense packing my 1929 home. Very pleased with the home delivery at no extra cost and speed (about 1 week from order). Cellulose quality and density has been consistent. Way easier than transporting from a store purchase!

Not my first time using
The last time I used one of these machines was about 15 years ago. This time everything went great. It produce less dust and the Machine never clogged up on me after using 25 bags. I can't wait to see how much money is saved on the electric bill.

My attic looks like a major snowstorm after a palette of the INS765 (all borate) - about 5 hours for 700 sq.ft. Can't beat free delivery - took about a week. Taping a stick on the end of the hose to reach the eves was a good tip, as well as a painter's suit, headlamp, and and a couple N95 masks (a must). Also duct tape the hose to blower so it won't blow off and make a mess. The blower was a "Cyclone", guessing about 75 pounds, was 22-5/8"L x 24"W x 33-7/8"H with 2 wheels so you could move it like a dolly. Don't forget to open the vent or it simply doesn't work (the HD person was clueless about operation). There was no remote on-off on the hose - used cell phones to communicate. $250 deposit and free rental (otherwise $100/day+tax) though a bit problematic as the person didn't know how to credit me. Probably could have used a few less bags but more is better so used it all. The prep (building barriers, organizing things up there) was the harder part. Bales need to be broken down to about the size of a fist (pretty easy) and seemed better to leave the hopper 1/2 full and vent 1/2 way out (controls the hose flow speed).

This is a very good product and easy to install if the blower works I wore glasses and a respirator and found that the dust settled very quickly and filled my ceiling very well. I could feel a difference in the downstairs temps immediately.

Got a quote of almost 4 grand to insulate my house.. most of the exterior walls had no insulation at all. Tip for anyone insulting your walls... check if your house is a balloon frame before you cut 3" hole saw holes in all your sheetrock... like I did... I cut all my hole then started blowing up in the attic. I'm like oh its ALL FALLING DOWN THE WALLS... ITS BALLOON FRAME! Ugh... could have just blown everything from above... oh well. Anyways, for about 450 and free delivery and free rental. Its def worth it! Def get a full tyvek suit, dust mast and glasses. I love the home depot video like.. then clean up.. as they sweep like 5 peices of insulation... Haha its everywhere. When filling the walls you can hear it stacking up.. so make sure you hit the remote stop button hard enough or it pushes the tube out and blows all over you like confetti haha doing the attic was super easy. It shoots pretty far like 8-10' if you arc it up. I did about half the walls in an 1100sqft house, 2 - 25' long x 6' wide attic eaves. Then did the full attic of a 750sqft house. I did about 10" of fluff .. I didnt put measuring things just eyeballed it. I still have 9 bag left over... I can also go back and rent the machine again and use it for my basement walls when I stud it in. Oh and a tip for loading it in the machine. My home depot only has the attic cat machine... its ment for skinnier bags and tell you to cut in half... they dont fit. Cut the bag in half the long way (hotdog way) and you can pick it up in blocks and shove it in. Overall easy to use. :) we had the tube clog once.. just disconnected the end 50' section.. shake it and turn on.. let it blow out the first 50 ft section them reconnect other one and blow out. It gut clogged because I didn't shut it off fast enough in the wall hole and it packed in the tube.
