Questions & Answers

My window is 48"wide and I used the connector WB-CP to connect 2 window guards. There was an opening of 7" 1/4" in the middle that could be used by a skinny burgler to get into my house. Any suggestions?

Answer This Question

Allen, Not sure what you could do, but it seems that a 7-1/4" opening would be difficult to pass through. Possible option is to cover the 7-1/4" gap with a flat steel plate, perhaps 1/8" thick. The plate could be welded or mechanically fastened to the bars. This provides excellent security but may look more like a solid panel than a window grille. Or add expanded metal or security mesh. You could attach expanded steel mesh over the center joint. This would eliminate the opening while maintaining airflow and visibility. Hope this helps. Thank you, Grisham bros.

My front door has a 24"x 58" window in it. I worry that someone could break the window & enter my house. Are the bars wide enough that if they broke the window they could still just manually unlock the door by sticking their arm through the bars?

    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

Kristina, The bars are roughly four inches on center. Yes, an arm could fit through the bars. Thank you, Grisham Bros.

My window size is 48" wide and 58" long. Do I have to buy 2 24"x54" guards and place them next to each other? I have a portable AC there whose vent/connector may cause some issues. Can the guard be cut by a welder to accomodate my AC vents?
      ByAug 1, 2026
      1 Answer |
      Answer This Question

Allen, The concept of joining the two 24 x 54 units would work well to cover the desired opening. I`m not 100% certain on how you are venting the AC unit, but you may gain enough clearance by using the WB-3PB three inch stand-offs mounting brackets. You can join the two units with either a standard WC-CP coupler or a 3" inch WB-3TB stand off coupler if you have a center support to secure the bracket to. The three inch brackets could possibly reduce the need for any alterations to the actual window bars. I have included a link to the accessory page on HD.com. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Grisham-36-in-x-54-in-Spear-Point-Window-Bar-Guard-WB3654BK/202770089#overlay Hope this helps. Can the mounting screws be used for concrete? If so, is there a certain drill bit required.
          ByMar 13, 2026
          1 Answer |
          Answer This Question

Tiffany, Correct Masonry drill bit size: 1/4". Anchors are not needed since the screws are self-threading for concrete/brick/block The hole must be smaller than the screw (1/4") so the threads can bite and hold. Important to drill at least 1/2" deeper than the screw length. Blow out dust (very important for holding strength) Don’t overtighten—can strip the hole. Hope this helps. Thank You, Grisham Bros.

my window wide 60 in and hight 48 in is 38 buy 54 workes

            1 Answer |
            Answer This Question

Issa, .However, two 30 in. x 54 in. units joined together using the coupler accessory will meet your 60 in. width requirement. This configuration will result in a total height of 54 inches, providing 6 inches of excess height. You can allow for this by positioning the unit with approximately 3 inches extending beyond both the top and bottom of the 48-inch opening. Hope this helps. Thank You, Grisham Bros.

My Window size is H 58 and W 68, how can i use the guard?

              1 Answer |
              Answer This Question

Jbcc, Possibly using the outside surface mount brackets with a coupler joining two unit together. The unit would extend 2 inches beyond the window evenly spaced on both sides. Hope this helps. Thank You, Grisham Bros.

My windows are 34 1/2 wide. Will the 36 wide work for me using inside flush mounted?

                1 Answer |
                Answer This Question

Valerie, For inside mount applications your installer would need to cut the two horizontal bars proportionally on each side to fit the required 34-1/2" size noted. Essentially 3/4" of an inch from each side of the horizontal bars. Hope this helps. Thank You, Grisham bros.

Wanted to add a additional security to a door. These make install quick and easy. They will add time needed for anyone looking to smash your window and hop in. These bars are hollow bars and can be easily cut with a simple hacksaw. So they can be defeated quickly unlike a solid steel bar that would take a great deal of effort to cut.

I insalled these on the inside frames of my garage windows. The appearance is subtle and nice. Does not block light. Installation was easy. Since they are inside I did not use the non reversible screws or buy the special drill bit required to install them. I like the product. Shipped within a week.

I was happy with the window guard overall. This is a good value for the money, keep in mind that the bars are not solid steel and should be purchased more as a deterrent vs a non-penetrable guard. I purchased to mount over the window in my storm door, and it worked out nicely. Good value for the $40. Easily installed with stainless security barrel bolts sized the thickness of the door.

Packaging was not acceptable. Square ends had poked through the carton. The "spear ends" were well protected but the "square ends" need the same protection. Some chipping of the powdercoat which I will touch up... but it should not have occurred and some buyers might just send them back. Worse case is that they don't and grumble and you'll wonder why they don't come back. This is my second order and I am otherwise very happy with the product. Hope the manufacturers will take better care it boxing them.
