About This Product

The Grizzly T25920 12" x 18" Variable-Speed Wood Lathe comes with a standard 3/4 HP motor. The variable-speed control gives you the range (300-3700RPM) and flexibility for any turning project. Heavy-duty cast-iron construction provides plenty of mass and stability for wood turning. Bolt up to the 3-1/4" faceplate and turn plates and bowls up to 12" wide and spindles up to 16-1/2" long. The 8" x 30" footprint won't take up a ton of space on your workbench. Add the optional T27327 Bed Extension and you've got a full-size lathe that can turn up to 40" between centers. The T25920 is the perfect lathe for pen turning, bowl work or those new to wood turning. Setup out of the box is simple and you will be turning in no time! Like all of the Grizzly lathes, the T25920 comes with a 1-year warranty covering parts and assuring the unit is free from factory defects. (Consumables are not covered by the warranty.)

Q:How can I get a new drive belt for my T25920 lathe . Is there a longer toolrest for this lathe? It does not make much sense to have a long lathe base and only have a 6 inch tool rest .

First time owning and using a lathe
Easy to use, quiet and solid lathe. The most complicated thing is shifting the belts and even that’s easy. I have had no experience with lathes and so far this has been a breeze and a joy. Im making pens like a proper generic middle aged white dad 😂

          My first lathe.
Just started and am happy with first project. Just finished work on a candlestick. Made it in three parts ( should have been two) and it looks fairly good for a first time effort. Used wild cherry for the stem and candle holder. Base is yellow pine. For a finish I used linseed oil and beeswax.

Well built and ready to roll!
I took delivery about two weeks ago and so far I'm very impressed. I also bought the self centering chuck to start out (SKU# H6265) which you'll need right off the bat. along with pin and dovetail jaws for it (SKU# H6268 & H6269). I'm experienced with wood but a beginner at turning, well I can confidently say this machine made me feel like a seasoned professional. I'm using it primarily to turn finials for clocks with hopes to do dials as well. After a few YouTube videos I was off and running and this lathe was nearly ready to use right out of the box. Glad I sprung for the 12" swing over the 10" to get the 3/4HP motor over the 1/2HP, truly where bigger is definitely better and the variable speed is so convenient. Already owned chisel from dabbling on my metal lathe but sawdust and oil just don't mix. I'm a very happy camper now!

            Love it so far
New to turning, built a cart for it but the control panel sits 3/4in below Lathe. I had to rout a section so it would go on. Still in learning mode and only turned one item but its smooth so far. digital rpm is nice to have for newbies, range is 300 to almost 1300 on first belt position. Item seems solid, not feeling much vibration so far, small about at about 1100rpm. Will update if anything changes but seems worth a few $ vs the Wen 12-18

              Great Lathe for the money
This little lathe does what its supposted to do. Plenty powerful for the small turning projects I'm using it for (ship model masts and pens). The variable speed is smooth. The centers were aligned out of the box. Everything is qorking perfectly.

Powerful lathe, but not the tailstock
I bought this lathe in November and it has a lot of strength for turning large diameter parts, the headstock is rigid and there is no vibration really ever unless a workpiece is out of balance. Unfortunately the tailstock is very hard to tighten. The small little wheel is hard to get enough leverage on, and the threads that move the quill seem really rough and seem to be taking damage despite a generous amount of grease. I feel disappointed but at the same time this is a cheaper lathe and it has its purpose. If you are using a faceplate or chuck, or turning pens, this is a great lathe. I only run into these problems when I’m running larger parts between centers that need more force to hold. Overall I recommend this lathe, but I really hope to see a better tailstock in the future.

Too big for a paper weight.
Very disappointed. Lathe has a high pitched whine when operated. I can feel a rough spot in the head stock when I rotate it by hand. Rpm display stopped working after less than 5 minutes of use.

                Good starter
My first lathe, and it's perfect for me. Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. Intuitive controls and adjustments, adequately powered, meets all expectations. A chuck and a J or S tool rest are necessary options, in my opinion.

                Great Little Lathe
Great little lathe for the money. I did not care for the control box, it is very loose, nothing that can be remedied, I would purchase again.
