Beautiful end result
This butcher block stained beautifully and was a fraction of the quoted cost of granite or quartz for this small countertop area. This is stained with Minwax Weathered Oak and 3 costs of poly.

Great counter tops
I used 5 of these 10' Hevea (rubberwood) tops. They came package very well and had no damage at all. After cutting and installing I sanded with a 1/4 sheet sander with 80 grit, then 180 grit. brushed on 1 coat of satin poly clear coat, let dry overnight, sanded lightly with 400 grit and put a second coat on all the exposed areas (underneath as well). I have a few pieces left over, my cabinet total is 34 feet and a little over 8 foot. Very happy with the way they turned out. Now I just need to finish building my drawers and doors for my wood shop.

Nice butcher block
Solid wood, nice and smooth, no flaws or damage that I can see. This is the second one of these I have purchased but not for kitchen use. for use at work. I cut them in half and use them on bench setups in the testing lab at work. The wood holds a screw better than the typical bench surface of laminated particle board so we have no issues with components getting knocked about, cables being damaged, etc. Per the instructions the surface must be sealed within 24 hours of opening the package. But that is easy enough, with 4 coats of exterior oil-based spar varnish. It looks nice and we have to user a water-based ESD-dissipative spray on them anyway to satisfy the periodic ESD checks. So far there have been no problems at all.

Be careful if you are planning on staining this!
I bought this to go in the laundry room which already has one butcher block countertop stained with red mahogany and then varnished. Original one was from LL but they dont have it any longer. After cutting, rounding edges, sanding and staining, "blotches" of the surface wouldn't take stain. Considered returning but decided to do some serious sanding to remove the smeared filler, restain and touch up remaining small bits of filler with red/brown paint. OK but not perfect.

Great value, nice wood grain
I bought this for a half wall bar I built in the basement. I'm not yet done finishing it yet, however I'm pleasantly surprised with the product... I was nervous that this butcher block may not take a stain or varnish well. I'm using Danish oil and a top coat. The picture shows 2 coats of Danish oil.

Beautiful butcherblock countertop
Building a workshop in my back yard & wanted a solid workbench for it. This was the perfect countertop for my shop. The wood was a good match for my shiplap walls & the dimensions were exactly what I was looking for. I purchased it online for store pickup & it arrived sooner than expected. It was well packaged for protection & the folks at Home Depot loaded it into my truck. When I unpacked it for installation, I noticed some minor surface & edge flaws. If I were installing this in my kitchen, I would have had to sand/fill/repair those flaws but since this is going to be a workbench, no big deal. I really like it!!

Great Deal
I found this 25"x72" Hevea butcher block countertop in a Home Depot store for $118.00. I had to buy it. Eventually I decided to build some additional cabinets in my kitchen to use the countertop on. I built a pantry cabinet and a liquor cabinet and designed it so the countertop would be 43" high (bar top height). I ordered doors to match my older cabinets (redid them 8 years ago).
The countertop was good to work with. I cut it with a cordless circular saw and a saber saw with very little burning. I made a 1/2" plywood template and used a pattern bit on a router to finish cutting a freehand curve and used a 1/4" roundover bit to finish the edges.
Sanded everything with a belt sander and a palm sander using 120 and 220 grit. Go easy with a belt sander it can ruin your project quickly.
I thought I would skip using a stain to darken the wood and just finish it with water based polyurethane and I really dig the light clear finish. Oil based poly adds an amber color but I had a quart of the water based poly (satin finish) and it enhanced the white color a little yellow and looks clean to me. I used 6 coats of poly on top and 3 on the bottom. I used a damp rag to raise the grain on the unfinished wood then sanded before starting the poly coats. Still had to sand (220 and 400 grit) after each coat. I didn't want a high buildup so I am satisfied with the product.
