Maple is a classic wood, beloved and highly regarded for centuries. Maple becomes perfection in butcher block, with light, consistent colors, ranging from cream to light tan. Considered a hard wood, it will wear well and has good abrasion resistance. Maple has a fine, generally straight grain pattern, making it a coveted material for a traditional remodel. Remember that wood is a product of nature. The allure of a pure wood product is that no two grain patterns, textures or colors are identical. Wood is affected by soil contents, climate, growth patterns and many other factors. These wonderfully unique features will ensure a one of a kind look for your remodel. Differences in grain, coloring or mineral streaking, as it occurred in nature, will not be considered a defect or reason for a replacement. This product is completely finished with a UV seal. Further finishing is not recommended.

Kitchen remodel

Poor Quality Product.
This product was delivered to my house. This Maple 72 x 36 butcher block was very poorly made. It is quite heavy also. One side about 12 inches split as I was cutting it. Good thing I needed only 62 X 36 of the block. But the split is more than 12 inches. You can see the photo where the split ends. Also there other spots that cracked. I have to apply wood glue. For another project that I did before this maple butcher block. This Maple butcher block also bowed in the middle and sloped on one end. See the photo. The two 96 x 25 Birch butcher block I purchased at the Home Depot store were a lot better, no defects noted.

Very happy with the way the counters look
These counter tops turned out much better than I thought they would! There was some splitting at the ends of the pieces so I just trimmed where I needed to. The maple is extremely heavy, but otherwise easy to work with. I also used them for floating shelves.

See The Split
Purchased butcher block island in November with no problem. It has not even been a month and already splitting at the seam. I am really disappointed because I spent a little extra $$ thinking I wouldn't have this issue. I do not have money to waste.

Maple Unfinished Island Butcher Block
Purchased and installed the butcher block island in November with no problem. However, woke up this morning to find my island is splitting at the seams. I am really disappointed spent few $ thinking I wouldn't have an issue. I do not have money to waste.

Tried to write a review of what actually happened to my piece but HD continually rejects my reviews. Made first cut and piece broke in half, made a second cut and same thing. I have attached pictures to show what happened.

The top we got was in excellent condition. I had to knock a star off though as there was a weird...
The top we got was in excellent condition. I had to knock a star off though as there was a weird stain on the good side of the top that didn't show itself until stain was applied. I spent hours sanding that out and then restaining before poly. Overall I think we got a good one. Beware it's longer than 8 foot by 2 inches IIRC.
