Questions & Answers

Do the totes have a spot for a zip tie down option?

Asked by: Cotton
Yes, a drill hole is on both sides, so each lid be tied down.

What size lock is needed? Will the regular standard work or do I need 2 1/2 inch padlock?

Asked by: NeedlocksandStorageBin
This Flip-Top Tote IS lockable. There is a hole on each «flap» that has a circumference that's about 3/8 in.

Is this container food grade

Asked by: 716
I wouldn't unless you were to line it with an plastic barrier like a garbage bag. Home Depot sells clear plastic LEAF bags in 33 and 50 gal size that would allow you to see thru the container. Either size probably would fit.

Are these boxes stackable if so how high.

Asked by: JZdd
I don't know what the recommended stackable height is but currently I have my totes stacked six high.

Customer Reviews

12 Gal. Flip-Top Tote (Colors Vary by Store) is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 169.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay For The Price Plastic bins seem to have gotten silly expensive over the years. These are not high quality boxes and the plastic is not as thick as other plastic bins that I've bought, but I suppose that's what makes them inexpensive, and they are pretty light weight. I bought them to box up some stuff in preparation for putting my house on the market. The picture shows two of them stacked on top of a Sterilite brand box that I owned. I'd buy them again for storage of items that I don't have to get to frequently, or for short term use, like moving, if I had things I didn't want to put in cardboard boxes. Not sure what the weight load is on them, you might want to double check the specs if you wanted to put really heavy items in them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk I bought 10 of the previous brand and then went back later and they had these. The plastic is brittle and fragile. Even in the store, you will find them with the bottom broken out. (Should've known better after seeing that) The interlocking lids are pain to close. Mine sit on shelves in the garage and are not stacked or over loaded. All are being replaced with a more durable brand. Don't waste your money on these.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Flimsy, plastic deformed or incomplete in many sections, old supplier was much better. Home Depot switched to a new supplier for this product. (They have the same sku number but it's definitely not comparable to their other totes. Their old product was much thicker, stronger, and did not have deformities. Their new product is flimsy, often with deformities or incomplete punching of certain parts. The new product also produces a lot of static when the old ones didn't. This is problematic for me since I'm storing down and feathers in them for laboratory testing. It's fine for maybe storing stuff like Christmas ornaments or crafts things, but I would much prefer they go back to an old supplier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good deal for the cost These storage totes are not the best storage totes I've ever owned. The tops are flimsy and thin. If I purchased these to stack one on top of the other I think I would look elsewhere, but these will be going on storage shelving, each on their own shelf. They are see through and a good size (holding 8 bath towels easily). A queen size down comforter does not fit. I gave 4 stars for the price. They work perfectly for what I need them for.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from stacks great I use mine to store classroom supplies. I like that I can see what the box contains. The built in handles make them easy to move. They do no hold up to long periods of high heat though from storage in my garage. It makes them brittle fast.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very flimsy This product is ok as long as you treat it like a delicate work of art. The plastic tub part cracks and or has chunks break off easily if you set it down wrong. The lid is made out of flimsy plastic that is much too pliable and bends almost like its made out of rubber. Even if you use zip-ties to secure the lid holes, the top will still cave in if you stack more than 3 or 4 of them together. This is a rip-off of a very good costco design. Costco makes the exact same design at the sane price but those are bulletproof and this product is flimsy. If home depot lowered the price to 3 or 4 dollars per tub then they would be great but for the same price you can get the costco tubs that have rod-reinforced lids. I think the brand costco sells is called incredible solutions

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product for excellent price Had a good idea to place items in storage/closet for better handling. the real answer is to buy a little more tough unit like the Rubbermaid roughneck 14 gal unit

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor purchase Tops are very flimsy. Please check the tote before purchase. Both tote tops were broken when I brought them home. One at the flap and one at the hinge. The multiple interlocking pieces are not cooperative when closing. The hinges pop off with very little force. Due to the flimsy tops I would not stack more than one on top of another. The price is fair if totes are not already broken at the time of purchase. I would expect many break in transit.
