About This Product

The HDX Premium Allergen air filter is made with a reinforced pleated media designed to capture particles down to the micro particle level. This filter captures airborne contaminants as small as 0.3 mic in size. In comparison, a human hair is 100 mic in size. The HDX Premium Allergen's electrostatic charge helps attract and trap airborne pollutants that would otherwise bypass the filter. Because of its unique construction, this FPR10 air filter requires less energy consumption which makes it an upgraded solution when comparted to FPR 9 and FPR 7 air filters.

Highlights

  • FPR 12 air filters are best suited for capturing particles as small as 0.3 mic in size including dust mite debris, pet dander, pollen, dust and lint, mold spores, bacteria, cough and sneeze particles, most smoke, allergens, odors, and smog particles
  • Pleated design and extended surface area offer more space to capture contaminants and trap more than 98% of airborne particles
  • Constructed of a durable, moisture-resistant cardboard frame with wire supported media for strength and rigidity
  • Item represents 1 filter that will last up to 3-months in a typical household environment and can be reordered through our subscription service
  • Return Policy

Questions & Answers

Does this filter have activated carbon layers? Does it have volatile organic compounds (VOC's)? If so then I will have to choose a different filter since this type will aggravate my cat's asthma. Please advise before I order it. Thank you

No. You would need an activated carbon or another gas phase filtration.

what does merv rating mean and what is the best

      Answer This Question

Greetings! I appreciate your inquiry and am happy to assist you! MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value. It is a measurement that indicates how effectively an air filter traps particles. The higher the MERV rating, the more particles the filter is capable of capturing. For example, this HDX filter has a MERV 13 rating. A MERV 13 filter is considered premium and is designed to capture a wide range of particles, including: - Dust - Lint - Pet dander - Pollen - Dust mites - Bacteria - Mold spores - Smoke - Smog - Allergens While a higher MERV rating generally means better air filtration, the "best" MERV rating depends on your specific needs and your HVAC system's capabilities. Filters with very high MERV ratings can sometimes restrict airflow, which might put a strain on some HVAC systems. It's always a good idea to check your HVAC system's manual or consult with an HVAC professional to determine the highest MERV rating suitable for your unit. We truly value your business and look forward to the opportunity to serve you again in the future. Wishing you a fantastic day!

Sparse pleating, perhaps a good filter, but "ultimate allergen?" Nope
This HDX Air Filter is labeled both "Ulimate Allergen", and "FPR 12", Yet, compared to the filter it's replacing (Filtrete), it has perhaps 1/3 the pleats. Prices were similar, this maybe a few dollars less. Which filter would you buy? Then, the receipt says "NO RETURN" on it, while the advertisement never posted that notice. A cheap filter? Irritating. False advertising? Enough to make a 30+ year customer just walk away from H.D.. I'll try to return this anyway. If they don't accept it, I'll crush them and leave them on the customer service counter. Home Depot used to be better than this.

This is a very effective air filter because it traps more than just dust. It also filters great for allergens. We rotate out frequently. Good to keep a supply on hand.

Product seems to be good, but it arrived in horrible condition. It was shipped in a flimsy box and the filters were bent and the plastic packaging on the filters was covered with dried urine.

I used to go for these filters because theyre cheap in 'bulk' and my A/C intake is an oddball size. My most recent shipment of 6 filters was disappointing as they came in an exposed 'box' and the products are held in by packaging tape. Not to mention that none of the filters came individually sealed like they always were. Between shipping trucks/facilities and the warehouse they are stored in, who knows what particulates were picked up on the way to my house. In other words, expect a used product if you order online.

              Complete Waste of my time!
I ordered the 16 x 23 x 1 filters twice. The filters arrived in an unsealed box, just with tape across the top both times. Since the 16 x 23 x 1 are custom sizes. The filters themselves are unwrapped. These filters traveled thru warehouses, shipping trucks and delivery vehicles exposed to GOD knows what. I normally order the 16 x 24 x 1 and modify them to 16 x 23 x 1. I thought i was saving myself time by ordering these but it was a complete waste of time. I can't use these exposed filters! This is disappointing and frustrating!

I’ve been using these filters for 2 plus years. These filters are good quality. They fit very well and hold their shape.

                Not Purchasing Again!
Just unbelievably shoddy construction and shipping. 4 filters were ordered on 9-4-25. Were originally supposed to be here the 9th to 11th. Fine. But they didn't even ship until 9-10, and delivered the evening of the 12th. They arrived in a box that was open on both ends. There was dust and girt on the air filters. The filters had no plastic wrap on them, and it is actually 2 filters joined together. I could have done that myself. There isn't a picture on the Home Depot website that shows the entire product, so there's no way to know that in advance. All of the filters had minor damage of some kind. I can't tell if some of the ends are actually taped together as part of the manufacturing process or if someone did this before shipping them out. I need these for a project and don't have time to find someone else with this size. I will not be ordering these ever again from Homedepot.com
