Questions & Answers

Can you use these to hold cabinet doors to paint them?

Asked by: Jodee
I am doing exactly that. I have 36 kitchen cabinet doors and 7 drawer fronts I need to repaint. I found that by placing my door location label in the middle of the back side of the center panel, I can paint the back side of the door frame (the stiles & rails) and immediately flip the door over the paint the face & edges of the door. I plan the paint the inside center panel (where I placed the location labels) after the doors are reinstalled on the newly painted cabinet frames with chalkboard paint to list what is in each cabinet, or to keep a list of items that need replaced on my next shopping trip.

What is the weight rating of these tripods?
Asked by: MaineRob
I haven't tried to put anything heavier than a composite interior door on them to paint. I also used about 8 or 10 points for the door. For the kitchen cabinet doors I am currently painting, I only need 4 points, mostly for balance stability. I always paint the back side of the door first. Since I am not painting the reverse side of the inset panel at this time, I can immediately flip my cabinet door over, making sure that the points are all touching the back of the recessed door panel. That also happens to be where the label to replace the door on the correct cabinet is located. I can proceed to paint the face & edge of the cabinet door without needing to stop. Between painting the backs & fronts. I bought several packs of points so I had enough to do 4 doors at a time. By the time I finish the last one in the batch, the first is dry enough to remove from the points and sit to cure the paint. Now I can start the loop again with doors 5 thru 8, then doors 9 thru 12. I have very little time that is wasted. With 36 doors to paint, these points have been invaluable.

This tool is designed to assist in applying finishes to objects that need to be set on these tri-pods to help you get 100% coverage. The manufacturer makes no age claim and leaves the user's discretion what is appropriate.
