Q:The description says annual. I live in central Florida. Will it only bloom like a traditional annual or year round?

Answer This Question

A:  It will bloom all year in central Florida. It will be most prolific during Spring and Summer but if healthy it will have some blossoms during fall and winter as well.

A:  I cant say for sure but i cant imagine why it woulnt. I live in northern VA and mine blooms even when it gets quite cool, just not freezing. However ive put it in my cool, dark garage for the winter, and watered it occasionally and it rebloomed the following spring.

A:  I’m not sure. I live in zone 9. It’s been in the 90s with lots of rain & doing great. You might need to make sure it gets plenty of water in well-draining soil.

A:  My Rico Suave hibiscus has lived for the past 2 years in a north facing, in ground flower bed, with a wall behind it (south) giving it shade/protection. Live in Tucson, temps have dipped to the high 20s in the winter, soared past 110 in the summer.

A:  Do Google search, depends on the type you purchase. They are tropical so upper 90's at least. Some types tolerate cold better than others. And that can depend on if they are in planters or in the ground. Lots of good info available.

A:  It's been in the 90s here and no drooping. It's a hibiscus so you have to make sure it stays watered.

                by|Jul 18, 2021

A:  Yes Hollywood Hibiscus will survive in AZ weather but some shade is needed.

A:  I have kept this stunner in the home until temps are above 60 in the evenings. I am in Zone 6a If leaves are yellowing...make sure she is watered well util the day she goes out. I have this tropical in a south facing window until I take it outdoors.

                  by|Apr 27, 2022

A:  Since this plant is an annual it will not come back if it is left in temperatures less than 32 degrees. It is a tropical plant and will have to be brought inside over winter to keep it alive throughout the year to come back and bloom in the spring.

No Oscar for this Hollywood Star
I noticed a couple of yellowed leaves when I bought it but after re-potting in good potting soil in a large container, it has continued to produce more yellow leaves and the buds are tending to fall off rather than open and bloom. Two weeks later I went back to the same store and noticed that the rest of the Hollywood Hibiscus had more yellow leaves and no flowers. The nice ladies working the area recommended fertilizing/feeding the plant. Did so today and am now hoping for the best.

                        Funny Little Hibiscus
We’ve had several tropical hibiscuses (the solid yellow Sunny Wind, and the a few of the tropical solid reds) — this little guy is different — much shorter / stumpier in stature & in flowers. It did not take to being planted in the ground. It’s been in a pot now for over 6-wks. The flowers kept dying & falling off before blooming. I almost gave up hope — finally last week it bloomed. The flowers are very pretty
