A:  Yes but it's not the greatest for the blade. I have done this already in a pinch.

        Answer This Question

        A:  absolutely

        by|Mar 31, 2020

A:  If you're speaking of EMT conduit the answer is NO. This is made for corrugated gas line. It is possible it would cut through Greenfield (which is flexible electrical conduit) buy definitely not rigid.

A:  That’s not it’s intended purpose. As the cutting wheels are not inexpensive and the are designed for stainless steel which is softer than steel conduit, I would recommend a different tool.

A:  No. This tubing cutter will only cut thin wall flexible tubing. You want a pipe cutter. Job came up to cut 6" off bottom of several bar stools. Legs were metal tubing. Already had cutter for copper, didn't consider it would be strong enough. This cutter (rated up to stainless steel) saved the day. Only issue; rubber ring around adjustment knob sometimes makes tightening blade wheel difficult, ring is not attached to knob, spins freely.

This tubing cutter is sold as being able to cut copper pipe from 0.2" to 1-1/4". It does not fit around and thus cannot cut 1-1/4" inch copper pipe. Will be returned for refund

                    Response from VPC, Home-Flex ExpertFeb 27, 2024
Hi, HandyJAB - Generally copper tubing is 1/8" larger than the ID (nominal) measurement. So your 1-1/4" ID tube would have an OD of 1-3/8" (1.375"). Doing a measurement of several samples at our main office, our tubing cutter opens to 1.40". Given the +/- variables of all types of pipes, it's possible that the walls of your copper tubing were to the high side of the specs and were just slightly larger than the overall opening of our cutter. Sorry for the inconvenience. ValenciaPipe

This is a solid tool. The large knob is easy to tighten while cutting. I bought it and used it to cut CSST. It worked great.

Cuts through it like a hot knife through peanut butter. Meaning does the job quite well but you still gotta work at it a bit

Good tubing cutter, solidly built. My only real complaint would be that the blade did not stand up to the stainless steel tubing I was cutting. But it came with a spare... so no worries.
