Q:Can this withstand a house fire? Or would it melt?
by|Feb 19, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Hi, Aaron - Melting would be doubtful depending on the temperature of the house fire. All our CSST products are made for predominantly indoor use and should be able to withstanding temperatures in excess of 1400 degrees. Most house fire temperatures are well below that.

Q:What part of this product is corrugated?
    by|Sep 9, 2020
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for the note, Fusty. The product is simply a metal plate (not stainless steel) that is designed to protect CSST (corrugated stainless steel tubing) against nail and/or screw damage. We will take immediate measures to ensure the nomenclature is corrected and appreciate you bringing it to our attention.

These do not meet building code
Used these in a home we are building and are having to remove them. They do not meet the code requirements for a gas line striker plate.

Hi David, Can you tell your readers how these striker plates are deficient? They are marked with the CSA listing mark specifically for use with the HOME-FLEX CSST system.

Can't meet Homeflex's own protection requirements using their own branded striker plates.
The plates themselves are fine, though I am having difficulty finding the intended application for the design. These are the only striker plates offered by Homeflex, yet they do not seem to meet the requirements set forth in the protection specifications. When passed through studs, protection is required over the stud and 5 inches on either side. Not only do these have no holes or other means of mounting them in that fashion, they would be too short (measuring 9" total) to satisfy the stud protection requirement. I will admit there may be another way to apply these plates to meet another part of the protection requirement (possibly the through-floor section). However I find it frustrating that I cannot meet Homeflex's own specifications using their own products, and see no alternative to fabricating my own if I am to follow their documentation correctly.
