        Answer This Question

A:  It would have to be a 3 pronged extension cord.

        by|Jul 31, 2017

A:  I used one with mine last year before switching back to a window unit. Just made sure it was a 15 amp cord.

          by|Jul 14, 2017

A:  Hello Showtime2 - Because of the amount of energy required to start the unit, a portable air conditioner should be connected to a dedicated outlet. It should not be sharing the circuit with other electrical devices or used with extension cords, surge protectors, or multi-outlet adapters. - TREY@HAIER

DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT IF INTENDED FOR 24/7 USE. That being said I believe this unit would work well if you plan on using it periodically. The blower fan (that removes hot air through the exhaust vent / hose) is a serious design flaw. It is made with cheap plastic that will eventually shatter into pieces rendering the unit inoperable (see image). We have gone through at least three of these units in the past couple years and each one failed due to the same reasons aforementioned. Warranty does cover this but only once... I will be shopping for a better unit. Other than that the unit is great and works flawlessly. Shocked at how well the dehumidifier works since we've had to empty a 5 gallon bucket several times during the summer. If it wasn't for the blower fan I would have given this 5/5 stars.

                  Didn't last 4 months
I read the reviews just like you are. Everything sounded good. People seemed to be enjoying them. I don't know if I got a lemon, or what but mine was nothing like what the positive reviews said. Mine repeats many of the same issues others have had that have rated this unit poorly. First off, it is loud. Like something's wrong sort of loud. It rattled and vibrated loudly upon start up of the condenser and stayed that way until it shut off with a sudden thud that always startled me. It cooled wonderfully. That was the one good thing about this unit. Unfortunately the unit broke not 4 months after my getting it. It happened a 12:30 am, a clatter that sounded as if someone had threw rocks into a blender and hit frappe! Scared the living daylights out of me. I turned the unit off, unplugged it and took the hose off the back to find plastic shards in the hose and bits stuck in the vent itself. Upon using a flashlight to peer inside, I saw more bits of broken plastic. I called the warranty number who gave me the number of a repair place here in my area. Speaking with the repair people over the phone, they informed me that the fan blower wheel thingy, (they used technical terms I can't remember 100%) was broken and that they see it quite a bit in these units. That a bad lot of units were sent out and buy one of these is a bit like playing Russian Roulette. I asked what would be a quality portable AC and the said, "get an LG" So, if you are looking for a portable AC, please follow their advice and go with LG.

                  Problems from the get go
Bought this from the positive reviews, hoping that that mine wouldnt' be one of the ones with all of the issues. Something must have happened during shipping. We got one with a cracked connector, snapped valve, scratched front. Was able to set it up fine, but then it leaked allllllll over my hardwood floors. The only way I could run it was if I put cookie sheets underneath it to catch the water. Called HD, they said to return it no problem. Called Haeirer and they were useles, tell me to empty things that this model didn't even have. Clearly the condenser isn't working. Now I have to lug this thing back to HD and wait in the 90+ degree weather a week for a new one. Not thrilled to say the least. On the plus side it did an ok job at cooling and the noise wasn't too bad. Looks nice too.

                    Great purchase
Unit works as described- was placed in a 20x20 un- insulated garage- to cool the area for our dogs and also doubles as a photography studio- weather had been in the high 90's, easily brought the area down to 75-78- when allowed to run overnight to precondition the area, easily held the temp at 72-75 when outside was 99. No issues yet- I permanently installed an exhaust port on the wall. the air from this hose is very hot- its important that you seal the exhaust area so no hot air gets pulled back in the room.

Junk - Don't waste your time or money.
Product came with a damaged vent as seen in the photos. For months I have been given the runaround with ho real resolution from Haier or Home Depot. Don't waste your time or money on this product.

Good Portable Unit for Cooling a small space
This a/c works very well and with the hot weather here in Seattle these last 5 weeks, is keeping my small apartment at a comfortable 75 degrees, which otherwise would be close to 90. If I could have afforded to pay a bit more, I would have gotten the next higher model for 14,000 BTU to cover 600 sq.ft., which would have probably cooled my space closer to 70 degrees, as my space is an open studio of about 600 sq.ft. I don't have a window that would work for an a/c, as my only window is near the ceiling. My carpenter friend fitted a sheet of wood into the frame of the door leading to the outside deck and sawed a hole in the wood for the hose to fit through. When I need the a/c, I secure the door open, place the wood into the door frame and install the hose into the hole, and viola, I have an operating a/c. Where there's a will, there's a way!

Great need for Air Conditioning this Summer
A little Complicated to install, but when it is done it makes sense. I would have bought more than the 12,000 SQ since it takes it a long time to cool down 400 sq.ft. Really love the remote control !!!

                    Love this portable A/C
I have been using this air conditioner for about 90 days now, and am extremely pleased with it. I'm in an 800 sq ft apartment in the Pacific Northwest. During the day, I shut the bedroom and bathroom doors, and this unit adequately cools my living room, dining room, kitchen, hall and entry way. At night, I use a tower fan in the hallway to pull the cool air back to the bedroom. I vented the unit through a living room window. It is 57" high and slides horizontally, so I had to do some adaptation with the vent kit. The air conditioner is reasonably quiet. I do have to turn the TV volume up a bit when the compressor kicks in, but it isn't a big deal. Quieter than window unit I had previously. I love that the unit is self-evaporative so there's no draining required. The vent hose is reasonably long and the unit has wheels, so it rolls easily. My apartment has high ceilings, so I like that the air vent is on top of the unit and air can be easily directed upward. Daytime temperatures have been in the high 80s to low 90s thus far, and the unit has been great at cooling the place down quickly. My neighbor has this same model, and is equally pleased with the performance. I did a LOT of research before purchasing, and this model kept coming up at the top for meeting my needs.
