How often do you have to replace the brass puff? Can you clean it, or does it get full of solder and need replacing?

AnswersHello there! Thanks for using Hakko products. The brass wire would need to be replaced over time, as it will degrade with usage and no longer clean as well. The brass wire is lightly abrasive so it works well at cleaning the tip without damaging the plating beneath the solder. With time the metal will degrade and since it is already soft and lightly abrasive, it has the potential of degrading and once it has degraded, it will not be as capable of removing oxide layers from the solder tip. Can you also use this to prop up a soldering iron like a stand?

AnswersNo, it is not designed for that purpose. This is light and portable so you can pick it up and scrub the tip back and forth to clean the tip.

This items does what it is supposed to do! It cleans the soldering iron tip. I was disappointed...
This items does what it is supposed to do! It cleans the soldering iron tip. I was disappointed that it is very light weight and you have to hold it with one hand while using the other to plunge the soldering iron into it. I supposed a person could use double sided tape to secure it to a suitable place.
