Q:Silly question, but for a junction box (for example), do you install these from the inside out, or outside in? I was worried with outside in, the tabs are a bit sharp and could knick a wire in the box...although the tabs could of course be flattened.

        Answer This Question

A:  Outside in. Never had an issue with the tabs nicking a wire as the tabs snug closely to the lip of the junction box.

          Problem solved
If you like me has knocked out the wrong "knock out" on an electrical box then you know there is an open space now for insects, tools, who know what to get into. The simple and safe way to fix this problem is with a Helx Knock-Out seal. Position then just push and the seal will snap in place, problem solved. Pack of 4 and price is great.

I bought 4 packs of these in store to seal up a bunch of junction boxes in my basement and garage that the previous home owners never bothered to seal off. They are super easy to install. You pretty much just push them into the hole until they snap into place. These should help keep grass, dust, and spiders out of my garage junction boxes and dust and spiders out of the ones in my basement.

Had to move a 12/2 wire from the side to the top of one of the older small gang boxes they put in homes years ago to make room for a gfci outlet in my storage room. This worked but I had to bend "in" 3 of the teeth due to the gfci was so close to the side of my metal gang box. I also slightly bent "out" the 2 teeth that were surrounding the 3 that I bent in. I was then able to snap it in with a slight tap of a hammer. In hindsight, I "possibly" could have snipped the 3 teeth with some sheet metal cutters to make them shorter. All in all, the seal seem secure. These will fit the standard 15/16" empty holes (actual measured hole size) that gang (electrical) boxes have.
