What is the life expectancy of this product compared to concrete?

Asked by Trey October 3, 2018
1
Answer

This pad is extremely durable and is not subject to the type of breakdown that concrete experiences as long as it is used for the purpose intended and meets load requirements. While this pad is designed to be easy to install and very durable for outdoor condenser applications, we are unable to give you a life expectancy. Typically, they should last beyond the life of the outdoor condenser.

Answer

The support channels are designed to be in contact with the ground, or fully supported. Each pad has an estimated weight capacity of 389 lbs. The weight of most heat pump package units is approximately 310 lbs, so one pad should not be bearing all the weight. It will probably be fine, but sounds like it looks a bit off. Placing some landscape blocks under it, or building up the soil would probably not be a bad idea.

Rugged plastic design should hold up when using a powered string trimmer unlike the pad it replaced. Black color blends in with the ground cover. I would recommend this product.
