Multi-part answer ..... 1) the Home Depots where I live have never required a receipt. If you received the string as a gift and it is within a reasonable amount of time, just take them in and ask for an exchange. 2) there is no fuse in the string. it either works or not. 3) make sure you are using the same bulbs in both strings. These strings are rated for specific bulb types and for specific wattage. Do you have the strings plugged end-to-end? If so, try plugging them in one at a time. I think I would just do #1 and be done with it....
We drilled heavy duty eye-hooks into the trees and then bought cable to run from tree to tree. We attached the lights to the cable using small black zip ties through each light (each light has a special hole for this purpose). On the ends of our cable we attached carabiners so that we can easily take them down for the winter.
If the glass nub in the middle remains, this is what I recommend. I remove as much glass that is above the black socket as possible and then put a soft cloth (microfiber) across the top. I then grab the top of the glass nub with needle nose pliers (with the microfiber as cushion between the pliers and the glass) and twist counterclockwise. I have had success removing 2 broken bulbs with this method.
The bulbs are approximately 2” at the widest part of the bulb.
no, mine did not
If you are running them that long, consider switching to LED. they will last longer.
One option is to use a small screw in type metal hook. HD carries a few choices to select from. Perhaps also some type of metal screw.
I would secure 2 10" pieces of 1"X 1" angle iron drill at leased 2 holes for screws to secure the angle iron to the soffits over the rafter extensions. Drill a third hole 4-6" below the soffit and run a guide wire from one piece of angle Iron to the other. Attach the light string to the wire.
No water issues with ours
Yes, they are like an amber color. I thought the same when I purchased the set. The pic looked as if they were white.
