Yes, I think so. My ceiling is sort of a "tray ceiling" (sp) and yes, I think nine feet should not be a problem. The cording can be adjusted to several lengths so if you were to leave it a little long...it should be appropriate What is clear is how impressive this chandelier is.

How wide is this fixture?
It is exactly 24 inches wide.
The width of the fixture is 25 inches.
There are no instructions how to move the arms. I don't want to break them.
The guy that installed it folded the arms out....like wings... hope this helps!
The arms come attached at the top of the fixture and unattached at the bottom. Carefully open the arms to the correct position and attach the nuts at the bottom of the fixture
