            Clamp mechanism sucks
old transformers used to have a threaded insert with a lock nut, but this model has a stupid clamp and set screw. That sucks at securing the doorbell transformer to a junction box. Do not buy. Make sure to get a transformer that has a threaded insert for a knockout and a locknut.

If you don't know exactly what you need the three possibilities are nice. I had a new smart doorbell that required a lot of power and a small light in my house numbers. This model allowed me to power them differently.

The Transformer does work, but I hesitate to recommend it. The Transformer runs warm. It eventually shorted out. I have had to buy a second transformer because the first one shorted out. It also runs warm. The second one is on its second week. I am planning to install the Ring Video Doorbell this week. There may be additions to the post.

Chose this to replace my 16v transformer that was damaged by an electrical surge. Easy installation and mounted in knock out hole for a cleaner looking installation. This transformer had a ground wire that my older transformer did not have. Built in 3 voltage choices makes it nice for future doorbell changes

Hampton Bay Tri-volt Transformer This is an excellent solution and easy to wire necessity when installing a new or upgraded doorbell / camera system such as Ring Camera /talk Door bells systems also sold at Home Depot. With these Ring doorbells you can answer your doorbell and talk to the person who pushed the doorbell from your smart phone anywhere. This transformer is quick and easy to wire solution. Just remove your old doorbell transformer in most houses located in the attic. This transformer offers 8, 16, or 24-volt connections. Each transformer is packaged with a one page complete easy to follow instruction sheet in English and Spanish to assist if necessary. This also works great with the Nest Door Bell System and when a yellow low voltage light come on this is your GO to Solution. Most of the Camera door bell systems use the mid 16-volt setting. I purchased the tri-volt transformer for a spare. Transformer comes packaged well and is guaranteed to be free of factory defective parts and workmanship for a period of 3 years from date of purchase. Purchase receipt is required for all warrant claims. Feature most liked is the versatility of having three levels of voltage output: 8 VAC/10 VA, 16 VAC/10 VA or 24 VAC/20 VA. The Input: 120-Volt AC. Having the tri-volt transformer allows for the use of various door bells or chimes without the worry of correct transformer, but you have to remember to wire it correctly to appropriate output voltage.

This is a wired door bell replacement transformer. These usually last a long time and are easy to replace. This particular model from Hampton Bay is a unique model that has three different voltages so that whatever your particular configuration or voltage need for your brand of door bell, this unit has you covered. No need to second guess. Wire it up to the correct voltage for your bell and you are all set.
