Express Yourself

Products that turn ideas into expressions of you.

OSB Attic Decking has a convenient tongue and groove design for easy installation. Use the tongue and groove feature to lock multiple boards together and improve the organization of your storage space. Enjoy a clean look and increase the usable square footage of your attic by multiples of 8 sq. ft. per board. For standard installation, apply this pre-cut decking to supporting joists or truss bottom chords spaced 24" O.C. or less. Securely fasten the decking to supporting members following the requirements of the local building code. Apply the long direction of the plywood across the supporting joist (the face grain of the plywood runs perpendicular to the supporting joist). When properly applied, this decking will support 30 pounds per square foot of storage load. See Fastening Requirements under Info & Guides for further installation instructions. California residents: See Proposition 65
  • Each board supports 30 lbs. per square foot of storage load, for a total of 240 lbs. per board
  • Perfect for DIYers
  • Sized for easy handling, transportation and storage
  • Precut boards may be secured to supporting joists or truss bottom chords spaced 24 in. O.C. or less
  • Install across supporting joists and secure with fasteners
  • Run the face grain of the plywood perpendicular to the supporting joist for added load strength and durability
  • Use caution when accessing items stored at a distance and proceed by stepping only on the attic boards where they cross a joist or truss chord
  • Counter-sinking screws is recommended to maintain a smooth appearance
  • For the cleanest cut, use an 80-tooth or higher table saw blade intended for cutting wood products
  • Grade: On-Grade

Q:Looking to install these boards in a PNW attic. Are these boards treated to resist mold/mildew in a possibly damp attic?
    by|Jun 6, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Aimee, Our OSB is a perfectly adequate solution for a standard PNW attic. The board would not be suitable if there is continuous exposure to the elements (i.e. a hole in the roof).

Some of the boards were off-width too narrow. The tongue and groove widths and positions varied from one to the next, making it difficult to match up a series of boards to lay without significant seams. Overall finish quality was terrible. Some of the tongues and grooves were freyed/damaged. A couple of the boards were painted blue on one side. The best aspect this product was the low price and ready availability. I used it to build a sprung dance floor in our basement (with Marley vinyl surface).

Light Weight Board for Working in Attic
Light weight yet sturdy board. Used for crawling in attic to place insulation. Light weight made it easy to move when changing working areas. Did the job.
