We needed to child-proof our house before the grandchildren arrived. One of our biggest concerns...
We needed to child-proof our house before the grandchildren arrived. One of our biggest concerns was our glass coffee table. We used this chalkboard as a protective cover and a great place for the grand kids to play. It worked our great! It was light weight and easy to cut. It also didn't 'splinter' as I was cutting it.
As a chalkboard, it worked great with Crayola-brand chalk (both color chalk and white). It also erased easily and a damp cloth made it look like new. We also had no issues with water stains (from damp glassware sitting on it).
In terms of the grand kids, they loved it. The spend hours drawing on it and playing with their little toys on the table.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I needed something within a certain thickness to put between an aquarium and the stand. The 48" long and 3/16"thickness are perfect. I just needed it cut from 24" to 18.25". And the fact that one side is already black made it even better.

I found this quatrefoil+square shaped frame in a discount store, and thought I might use it for something, it had a 3/16" thick round mat for making a collage inside, which I took out and used as a template to trace on the unfinished side of this board, then cut it out with a jigsaw over padded saw horses. Now it looks even nicer, I like its high contrast so any notes will be noticeable. I'll have to practice writing fancily now I guess.

Pros: We cut and framed the chalkboard, and it looks great.
Cons: I had intended the chalkboard to function as a grocery list. At first, it was difficult to write on, and I tried both regular and dust-free chalk. Now that it has been in use for awhile, it works better. Overall, however, I would have preferred thicker wood and better quality.

Extremely pleased
Used for a wedding candy table sign. Bought a vintage mirrored framed, popped the mirror out and used as my template. Hubby used his circular saw to cut the chalkboard. Amazed how clean and easy results. The thickness was perfect! Used a chalk marker ( bought at wal-mart) . Googled chalk fonts and away I created a beautiful sign for a fraction of the sellers prices on etsy. Received compliments at night long.

Purchased for wedding signs
I purchased two of these for our outdoor wedding. Such a great deal! So far we've only made our welcome sign, but we'll also be making a menu sign too.
This is great for a easy DIY decor. I've seen chalkboard signs going for a much as $200. We got two for $20, can't beat it.

Great product if you don't want to use the chalk paint!
I wanted to do one of those Pinterest chalkboard things and almost used the chalkboard paint directly on my wall, but then my husband suggested this for when my kids get older and don't want to use it anymore. That way it wont be as hard to remove the chalkboard paint. I love it! Easy installation! Added the outer trim to make it "prettier"!
