Save your money. The materials used for this cupola project are of an inferior quality.....very cheap. Mostly consists of low grade pressed board....the side panels are pressed board with a paneling coating on one side. Pieces were cracked and chipped. Designed to be painted NOT STAINED. While the directions are easy to understand and assembly was easier than I thought it was going to be, the poor quality of the materials make this a bad purchase. Should have guessed by looking at the price but I expected more from Home Depot.

All the materials are made from Smart Side siding, which is an engineered wood that is treated with a zinc compound to prevent rot and termites. If any parts of damaged or cracked, please contact customer service at 800-221-1849 for replacements.

Nice product, confusing instructions!
The instructions on how to put this together are quite confusing. You have to read them over several times to understand them.
Also, I was under the impression that the roof tiles were included in purchase. They are not!

A good buy
Add the cost of paint and shingles to your purchase, and it's still a pretty good deal. I estimate if I had to buy the materials and the plans (online plans run about $19.95), I would have spent almost as much, so the convenience of a cutting template, step by step instructions and pre-cut pieces (the only cuts are on the two panels you have to cut to match your roof) was worth it. The hardware that comes with it is not high quality, but they provide enough of it so it's not so bad. Also, one 1x2 piece was chewed up (doesn't show on finished piece). I'd say this is average quality for a low price.
