Like any Butcher Block it is many small pieces glued together to make one larger piece. So yes it is essentially one solid piece of wood.

No, it would be obviously 1/2 in. short, and zero overhang does not look good. You'll need an inch or two.

Is the color pictured what it looks like when its delivered?

What previous replies have said is true. But we had ordered two slabs, photos and descriptions exactly the same except one was 25" deep and the other 39", and they are radically different from one another in base color of the unfinished wood. The 25" slab will never ever match the 39" by applying mineral oil to both, so now we are left having to stain the 25" and oil the other or order another one and hope it's darker. Big waste of $300 and mea culpa for not opening the boxes at the store, I should know better.
