500 sq. ft. Fescue Sod (1-Pallet)

So far so good. I ordered a pallet of sod from Home Depot and I had a few days later. I received a call from a local sod company asking when I would like it delivered. They clearly explained that I needed to be installed within 24 hours because it is a perishable item. No issues with delivery or the sod itself just a time-consuming project to take on by yourself. The lawn is looking great so far and watering it often. Looking forward to seeing how it looks in a few weeks.

I bought one pallet 500 sqt. ft of St. Agustin for my backyard. When you order it they call you to ask when you want it delivered because it has to be installed with in 24 hrs. I asked to be delivered on June 20,2026 which is a Saturday. I was not home at time of delivery but my husband was. I was at Homedepot with the landscaper getting last minute supplies for the irrigation system. My husband sent me a picture of the delivery. When I arrived I noticed the dirt was dry and it had a paper with instructions. I read them and I asked the landscaper if I need it to water it. He said no because it gets heavier and we were installing it that afternoon. It was actually installed right after they prepared the top soil. Once they started installing he said this grass is bad. My heart sunk. It is mixed with dried grass. Actually, I believe there were like 5 pieces in good condition. He continued with installation and I water it right away. On Monday, I went to Home Depot to complain about the grass and took pictures to show them the condition it arrived. They told me that since it was a online order. That department needed to be contacted. Michaela from customer service made the call meanwhile I was shopping for more stuff and replacing some broken pavers I ordered as well online and got delivered the same day. When I asked what was the answer they said I need it to uninstall it and place it outside for them to pick it up to get a refund. I never asked for a refund. Of course I was not going to pay to uninstall it and install it again. No credit, nothing was offered by the grasa company. I purchased grass starter and applied that same day and I am still hoping for the best. Trying to rescue my inversion in grass. It has been 2 weeks tomorrow and I can tell that I am going to have dry spots no matter what I do. Good thing St. Agustin regenerates and eventually “hopefully “ it will cover those areas in time. My advice is check your delivery when it arrives and don’t accept if it is dry. Avoid a headache.

The entire order of sod arrived dead, dry and crumbling. I notified the delivery person right away that the sod I unrolled was dry all the way through, appeared to be dead and was not fresh. I went through the long, arduous claim process within 24 hours, first with Home Depot who then sent me to Harmony Brands. They pretended to work through the claims process with lengthy questionnaire about bugs and pesticides and watering frequency (for dead sod they just delivered), then required another claim via email with pictures, then required another phone call where they just refused to do anything and closed the totally useless claim. More than the money spent on sod, we are frustrated about the amount of our time and resources wasted. We had 3 yards of 50/50 garden blend placed and ready, along with 3 people who dedicated their afternoon to carrying and physical effort to laying the sod. We laid all of the sod within a 4 hours of the delivery and began watering and soaking it immediately. However, everyone who touched the sod agreed that it was in terrible condition and the best we could hope for was to "bring it back to life". We do not believe that the sod was cut anytime in the last week.

I was super disappointed in the quality of the grass. I added organic compost to my yard, after laying out the Sod 4 months into it being installed i noticed a large amount of dead spots in low traffic areas. I have now had to seed and replace with other rolls of sod from local nurseries. I was very disappointed with this Another disappointing factor was the poor older gentleman that delivered the two pallets of sod had to unstack every single roll onto a different pallet. I ended up helping him as it was scorching hot outside.

I was told to install the sod within 24 hours of delivery but it looks like it had already been sitting out in the sun for at least that long when it was delivered. I made the assumption that sod would be cut fresh and delivered while still appearing healthy, but the entire pallet of sod arrived dry and shriveled. I’m not sure I should even attempt installation given the condition of the sod if I’m going to have to replace it in a few weeks time. Will need to return. Would not recommend purchase.

Half the grass delivered was brown and dead.

Good quality sod. My only issue was delivery. They didn’t call prior to dropping the pallet and they partially blocked the gate the my back yard with the drop location. I could only open the gate enough to squeeze through sideways with the sod. Made the installation difficult.

I bought three pallets of this grass and had to replace all three pallets worth. It was well watered and it was in beautiful shape and then within 3 weeks it turned to crap. I don't know what type of bug was in it, but it basically killed it all. Wasted almost $1,700 on the purchase of this sod on June 11th only for it to look like this 1 month later. Harmony sod contacted me and told me that they would not cover any replacement costs and said that it was underwatered which is a complete lie. I ordered everyday for 2 weeks for 45 minutes. Plus we had other rain almost every other day for the 2-week period and then beyond. I would not recommend this product to anybody. Save your money and go to a reliable sod farm that has a warranty.

I purchased 500 sq. ft. of Zoysia sod from Home Depot, had it professionally installed, and followed all care instructions. Despite this, the sod began dying within a few days. I contacted Home Depot within the 90-day warranty period and was told to bring photos to my local store for a refund. I followed their instructions and went to the McDonough, GA store, but they refused to honor the warranty unless I returned the dead sod — which would require another $300 in removal and transportation costs. I never asked for reimbursement for installation, only for the sod itself. Home Depot failed to stand behind their warranty, and the way I was treated was completely unreasonable. I’m a long-time customer, but this experience was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend buying sod from Home Depot due to their lack of accountability.

Sod not sun tolerant. Completely died in 4 months. Existing lawn looks fine.
