I was thinking about using plugs over sod, but these plugs are $55 for $36 Square Feet? That is almost twice the price of buying sod. I thought plugs would be a less expensive option. Am I missing something here.

Sod is shipped with a shallow root system. Plugs are shipped with a deeper developed root system. Sod has one job - grow good roots into the soil beneath it. Plugs have one job, develop runners and spread out to the soil around them. If you want a lot of coverage fast, Sod is the way to go. If you have one or two spots in your yard that need repair, I'd recommend plugs. (after dethatching and aerating those areas)

What is the best tool for digging the perfect hole to accomodate these plugs?
Asked by: Chuck
Hi Chuck, Some stores have a plugger lawn tool made for digging the perfect hole for sod plugs. You can also check online for the plugger tool. A handheld shovel will also work.
