These are plugs - roughly 2-inch squares, basically to patch a few bare spots in the lawn. If you want 200 sq ft of sod, I suggest you avoid plugs.

how many sq ft?

Answer

Each plug is approximately 3" square. You plant each plug in holes 12" apart, and they should fill in the spaces between the plugs. They will also continue spreading, so they can fill in more or less than 64 sq ft, depending on conditions in your yard and whether growing conditions are optimal. They are healthy, well-rooted plugs. Mine did great until it got really hot and then crabgrass started growing and taking over. Crabgrass is incredibly invasive. I plan to put down crabgrass preventer in the fall and hope that the St Augustine that is still there will spread more next year. The two 18 packs that you get are approximately 3-4 square feet of grass, if you planted each plug close together, without space between them.

Can I use these in New Hampshire?

No. St Augustine is a hot, humid climate and sandy soil type of grass. It doesn’t even do well in N GA

Unusable
These took about a week to arrive. All plugs had a majority of yellow blade with brown spots. Some of the plugs in the bottom tray had come out of their individual sections and were on top of each other. There was a lot of gray powder found on both trays, but a heavy amount on the bottom. Powder was present in the roots as well. Everything I read pointed to Gray Leaf Spot Disease. The pictures show what was received immediately after opening. I can't put these in my yard between healthy grass. Home Depot says they can't be picked up and returned, that I'd have to bring them in. Unfortunately, that's not an option for me so I'll be eating the $60 cost. Disappointed. I was looking forward to getting the bare spots in my yard fixed before end of summer. When going to write this review, I looked at the current ship times and delivery now shows to be in 3 1/2 weeks. Lesson learned. I'll spend the extra and go to a local nursery.

These died quickly. Did they have any warranty? I’ve had good results with HD, but the last couple of order have not gone well. Online may not be HD’s strong point.

Only one bad batch out of multiple orders
All my previous deliveries were awesome product but finally got a bad batch. Delivery company shipped it upside down suffocating the plugs. Also the box was handled rough enough for some of the plugs to come out of the trays. Planted them immediately and hope they bounce back and grow as well as the previous batches I have bought. Those were pristine and fast growing.

I have purchased 3 boxes in the last few months and all plugs are alive and doing well. The plugs are easy to plant, are spreading out wonderfully, and the dark green blades are beautiful. Will definitely purchase more in the future!

Every single plug I planted is doing great. Proper watering and fertilizing are certainly a big key to success. I made sure to water them twice daily for the first 12-14 days when it did not rain. Mowed the first time after 3 weeks. All my plugs have runners stretching out 8+ inches now. Would certainly purchase these again when needed.

These plugs are the best. I just wish the instructions were more clear on fertilizer that should or shouldn't be used. My first planting cost me over $300.00 because I over fertilized. But the second time...WOW! The lawn is beautiful! ]
