A:Â I was able to obtain one from a nearby Home Depot warehouse. Check the website. If they say there are some available, they should be able to send one to you. My store didn't have any on the shelves either, but there were 37 in the warehouse. If need be, check with their customer service department. Good Luck!

A:Â The two doors allow the animal to enter from either end.
by|Jun 9, 2020
A:Â I have found the two doors difficult to load. I use it as a one door trap and ha e caught one of the blue berry snatchers and relocated the chipmunk in the woods some 4 blocks away.

A:Â It really doesn't matter because the one with 2 doors is the only one you can buy. There is no 'one door' style for sale in this size trap. I'm guessing when I say it doubles your chances of catching the critter.
by|Jun 9, 2020
A: Thinking it’s to increase chances of catching something. I have one or more chipmunks and had no luck catching them with this. Hope you have better luck.

A:Â Mice aren't likely to venture into a closed space like most traps. The Havahart is open at both ends, so the mouse thinks he has a way out in front of him, so he's more likely to go after the bait. We used chunky peanut butter, apparently it's irresistible to mice. Be sure to check it every morning and move it once you catch one if you think you have more.

A:Â It can catch one animal at a time because both sides of the trap close at the same time, to keep the animal from escaping, when an animal steps on the trigger plate. I suppose there is a very small chance that multiple animals could be caught if multiple animals entered the trap at the same time but that would be unlikely. I bought two of these traps for trapping.

I just caught a mouse with this trap. It worked perfectly once I figured out the right location and bait. Apparently the mice had been attracted to some boxes of RID-X septic system powder under my sink, so I threw the boxes away, put the trap in their place with a dollop of peanut butter and a small pile of delicious RID-X powder, and within 24 hours the mouse was caught. It was easy to lock the cage doors and bring it to a nearby park. The mouse scampered away as soon as I opened the trap.

I don't like to kill a living thing if I don't have to. This trap is a perfect, humane alternative to the old snap traps, poison, or barbaric glue traps. I had a family of mice camped out on my patio and caught five of them with this trap within a week. I was then able to set them free into the wild (a local wooded area) where they can hopefully live out their days happily. Setting the trigger rod takes a second or so to learn but it's fairly intuitive. Once you learn how to set it, it's simple. Great trap!

Works quite well, already trapped two mice. You don't have to use both doors, I have one shut and the trap backed up against the wall. Also doesn't hurt to put some bait in front to lure a hungry mouse right up to the trap! All in all a much easier and kinder solution than impaling, poisoning and drowning them. And who wants a dead, toxic mouse somewhere in their house anyway?

Mixed review...
It caught every mouse we sent its way and now sits waiting for more. We also have the two next larger sizes for the red squirrels, grey squirrels and likewise varmits. We drive them out to a lovely field on our favorite back road and release them to Paradise....or if we're too lazy, we let them go out back with a stern warning never to return or we'll eat them. Of course tho we really won't.
This picture has nothing to do with the trap, but I thought you might like to see a pretty red squirrel that needed a little help from us one day. He's gone now.

Preferred by cats and mice alike! A++++
I don't often eat mice. But, when I do, I prefer ones that aren't laced with a lethal toxin. That's why my butler and maid bought me this Havahart trap.
Pluses:
Durable. The butler tried other cheaper live traps from this very web site and they were destroyed by the mice.
Effective: Once inside, the mice found a way out of the cheaper traps. This one works almost every time!
Entertaining: Who doesn't like a good floor show?
Saves time and effort: This gets a task off my list, less time keeping up appearances means more time to sleep and hang out with my friends!
Rumor: I hear that the mice don't like the digs, but they get a nice meal and a new home in the woods.
Minuses:
Lonely: It's a big trap but only holds one mouse.
PG-rated: The butler doesn't like to set this trap and is often heard using salty language when he has to do it.
Price: This is one of the most expensive traps in it's class but Home Depot has one of the best prices around.

This product REALLY works!
I found I had a mouse. I did not not want to use a "kill"
trap and went looking for a way to trap the mouse so I could relocate it. The Havahart mouse trap looked like it was worth a try. When it arrived I was somewhat doubtful that it would work as It looked light weight and I had some concern that a very small mouse might be able to get out. You have to work with it a bit to set it but once you've done that this trap is a real winner. I caught my mouse. Then I caught 8 more mice! All have been transported to good new outdoor homes. I will continue to set it for the next week or so but I do hope there aren't many more to catch. I'd suggest using chopped nuts or sunflower seeds for bait. I used peanut butter the first time; the mouse didn't eat it and it was a mess to clean up. I tried setting it with only one door open but found it works much better with both doors open. I've attached two pictures, one of the set trap and one showing a trapped mouse. I hope you can see the mouse.

Worked just great!
Had a chipmunk problem but the trap did a fine job of catching them. I was able to take them to a field nearby to set them free.

It Works!!!
I had a mouse and after several web suggested live traps failed, I found this trap. The mouse is now living in a field far away and I am enjoying my mouse free home. 3 Mouse Tips; (1) Until you get this trap, leave crushed peanuts out so that he doesn’t search your kitchen for a meal. (2) He will probably take the bait after dark. (3) Don’t forget to lock the trap after you hear it triggered. I caught him and went to bed. Result, evening = mouse, morning = no mouse. He pushed the entry open and escaped. If nothing more, my failure proves that this trap is highly effective. The mouse was caught both times within an hour of setting it.

Cage 7 mice 0
caught 7 mice with cheddar popcorn and a plastic cup taped to the trip platform. Its a little trickey setting up because it triggers easily. Used a cable tie inserted in the side openings to hold doors open. Also used a shim underneath th platform while placing the popcorn and removed once trigger was set gingerly with a flat stick by pushing it free of the platform holding the trip mechanism.
