You can flip the gas connection to the left side, if needed. I had to do that: you will need an adjustable wrench and a Phillips screwdriver.
Yes, the directions tell you how to change from the right side to the left side. Simply remove the gas line from the burner, remove the screw that clamps the burner in place, then remove the small plate located on the left side of the tray. Remove the burner placing the exit connection through the hole in the left side, re-attach the gas line to the connection with pipe dope, reattach the clamp to the pan with the screw and nut and place the small metal plate you removed from the left side on the right side and your are done. You now have gas inlet on the left side, like mine is! JDW
Mine had a flu so I believe that would be vented
