Q:What happens if the temperature drops below 50 degrees. I have to recoat my roof but the nights drop below 50
by|Nov 17, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Chris, the temperature parameters for the application of Henry 107 Asphalt Emulsion are 50 degrees day and night for 24 to 48 hours. Since Henry 107 is a water based system it may not cure or dry thoroughly and may wash away in the rain or if any dew collects in the early morning.

Q:Can you apply this in the rain?
    by|Nov 15, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Lisa, you cannot apply Henry 107 Asphalt Emulsion in the rain. Henry 107 is a water based protective coating and is not waterproof until it is completely cured. Henry 107 should be applied to a clear and dry surface when the temperature will not fall below 50 degrees, (day or night) for 24 to 48 hours.

Q:i am coating a metal roof with this can i spray paint it with latex paint, will latex bond to it without peeling
      by|Nov 9, 2023
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  XCVB, even though Henry 107 Asphalt Emulsion can be painted over, we would not recommend doing so on a roof. Roofs expand and contract a great deal, especially metal roofs. Paints contain hardeners and are not made to withstand the movement that a metal roof is subject to caused by great temperature changes. You could coat over the 107 with any Henry acrylic white roof coatings since there are elastomeric and will move with the roof.

Q:Can this be used on mobile home roof
        by|Nov 8, 2023
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Dona, Henry 107 Asphalt Emulsion can be used as the base coat for reflective coatings on roofs that are a metal surface or mineral surface cap sheet. It is not recommended for coating a rubber roof. Henry 107 is black so it should be coated over with a white acrylic coating or Henry 887 TropiCool 100% Silicone.

Carlos, we are pleased that Henry 107 Asphalt Emulsion must have been easy to apply and did just what you wanted it to do. Henry 107 can be used on foundations, roofs, cement ponds, fence posts, inside of flower pots and raised wooden flower planters etc. Thank you for putting your trust in the Henry Co and the Home Depot.
Great for Protecting Wood Fence Posts
I used this product to coat the bottom 4 ft of 4x6" posts for a large privacy fence I'm building. The product has low-odor and is easily brushed onto wood posts with a normal brush. It is very thick in consistency. 1 gallon allowed me to put 1 coat, 48"onto 32 pieces of 4x6" posts.

Nick, we agree that Henry 107 Asphalt Emulsion is "great" for protecting wooden fence posts. Henry 107 is also great at sealing and protecting roofs, foundations, ponds, flower pots and even the joists under a deck. Thank you for putting your trust in the Henry Co and the Home Depot.

Applied to a flat roof at my property…
My renters mentioned there was a small leak on a flat roof area of the home. There was no visible damages or cracks of where the water would be going in through so I decided to use this product on the whole roof. I covered the seams with the 6” fabric and waited a few days before finishing the rest of the roof. We just got some rain, my tenants reported no leak, all is good. All I need to do is apply some white elastomeric to help keep the home cooler in the summer Recommend 100%

Henry 107 is a mixture of Bentonite clay, asphalt fibers and water. You can use 107 to seal roofs, foundations, fence posts, wooden flower beds, flower pots, Koi ponds, pipes, etc. Henry 107 is corrosion resistant and waterproof when dry, also crack and alligator resistant. Thank you for putting your trust in the Henry Co and the Home Depot.

                Not consistence viscosity
Just bought on 09/03/22 0.9 gallon can of Henry 107 (see label on lid in picture 1). During the application on roof coated with aluminum fiber coating found that the product is very thin like acrylic paint. To finish roof bought from the same Home Depot store on 09/23/22 the second 0.9 gallon can (lid label is on picture 2) with viscosity at least 30-40% higher and strong asphalt smell. It seems to me some production problem.

ARKS, Henry 107 Asphalt Emulsion is what's known as a Thixotropic Liquid meaning that it is a highly viscous liquid that becomes more fluid when mixed. Henry 107 will be the consistency of a thin mud when mixed properly and should be applied at the rate of 3 gallons per 100 square feet. We encourage you to contact us at jszymanski@henry.com or 800-523-0268 so that we can determine what the difference in the thickness was. Thank you for your comments.

The sealer was actually thinner than expected so ended up doing 3 coats for less than 280 sq feet and returned the second gallon of product to HD. Easy to spread.

Henry 107 Asphalt Emulsion is a smooth damproofing coating that is designed to be applied at the rate of 3 gallons per 100 square feet. Unlike paints, coatings are applied to achieve a specified thickness in order to protect against water or sunlight. Thank you for putting your trust in the Henry Co and the Home Depot.

Morgan, thanks for the vote of confidence in Henry 107 Asphalt Emulsion. Henry 107 is one of our most versatile products. Not only does it do a great job on roofs but you can use it to dampproof foundations, seal the bottom of fence posts, coat small fish ponds, steel tanks, etc. Thank you for putting your trust in the Henry Co and the Home Depot.

We are sorry to hear about your bad experience with Henry 107 Asphalt Emulsion. Henry 107 is a really great and versatile product when applied under the right conditions. Henry 107 should not be applied in temperatures that get below 50 degrees for at least 48 hours. You should also not apply 107 if there is high humidity or a threat of rain in the next 24 hours. Henry 107 Asphalt Emulsion is a water based product and needs to evaporate the liquid out to cure properly.

I'm using the product for something different, and the only thing that I can speak to is the application of the product, which is very easy. I'm using it on two 6x6x16' treated Douglas Fir posts that will soon support a 20' sun sail. It's very runny once you add the 20% water, which allows it to soak into the wood.

Martin-this product is also 'thixotropic' which means the more you stir the thinner it gets which might negate the need to thin with water. Thank you for taking the time to leave this review and for putting your trust in the Henry Company and The Home Depot.

Essential ingredient in flat roof restoration
Restoring a leaky, ponding 60-year-old tar and gravel roof. Removed 600 lbs of gravel and dirt, revealing numerous large cracks, and rotting in the corners and under the flashing. After major repairs and cleaning, I applied two coats of 107 thinned 20% with water to improve adhesion and fill in the gaps. Next day a thick coat with T272 roofing fabric "brushed in" while wet. Now it's ready for the white reflective coating. Google "emulsion roof restoration", this is how the pros use emulsion.
