Can this be sanded?

Can this be sanded?
Asked by: Zman
I found my oscillating tool with the small grinding tool attached worked great for taking out the ridges. Then used 60 grit on the orbital sander. It was still rough but it was for under laminate so this was not a problem for my application.

What color does it dry?

Asked by: Ariana
It dries to a light beige color. Does it matter? It is intended to be covered up with something like a counter top or tile. In the attached photo I put it on tile but it will be covered with outdoor carpet.

will vinyl flooring adhesive stick to it?
Asked by: Craig
I can’t tell you from experience. I used allure vinyl plank flooring on top of it. I would guess yes. It behaves exactly like wood putty. Apply, allow to dry, and sand.

Absolute garbage product...how it remains on the market is a mystery. How anyone can rate it beyond 2 starts likewise a mystery. Even reviewers who rated it highly noted that the drying time is far longer than stated on packaging. I had applied it in less than 1/4" thick layer, thoroughly mixed, as instructed and some parts cured in about a day, others remained soft even after 60+ hours. Even when it hardened, I can still indent it with my fingernail. Texture is like heavily sanded grout, good luck getting a level surface with this "putty". It's akin to using Bondo, without having to add a hardener, although this sure needs something to make it hard. Also easy to remove from even rough, previously moistened concrete. Really, this product is absolute garbage. Don't bother....

I bought this product because I wanted to level some places on my outdoor tile before I put outdoor carpeting down. I don't want tripping hazards and I want the water from rain to drain off. However I found this product to be hard to trowel evenly. If it were on wood sub-flooring where you are going to put down some new tile it would be fine. I will use regular grout which is much finer and easier to spread for my purpose. The Patch n Level product does dry fast and can be scraped to make it smooth to some degree later. It is very gritey like sand. So I will NOT use it on my project. The attached image shows after I scraped it on the upper tile when dry to remove the excess. I would recommend it for another type of project considering its consistency.

Installed this product on a damaged subfloor intending to use several layers to reach a level surface. Per instructions I worked to maintain thickness of first layer to less than 1/4". After 7 hrs product had not set up and has been a miserable job to remove especially as I cannot use water to wash surface. This is adding at least a day setback. About the only surface this stuff adhered to was the plastic trowel and shop vac hose. My project is a DIY repair. Good thing I'm not getting paid for this job as it would be a real time, cost and quality bust.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Don't make the mistakes I made... Here are a couple of tips: 1. Don't over do it. I corrected some dips in my plywood subfloor but put too much product on, now I have hills! This stuff won't sand down with a power sander (it removes the grit from the sandpaper). If you are unsure, add thin layers and build your way up. It will take more time but you won't create more problems. 2. Get some air movement and heat in the room. I found the same problems with long drying times as other reviewers, but turning up the thermostat, adding a space heater and/or turning on a fan can help this product dry faster. 3. Wipe up spills and dry tools before the product dries. Clean up with water and a sponge is easy if the product is still wet. Expect a gritty, sandy finish, a stinky smell (my opinion), but a solution to dips and sags in floors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No issues when I used this to level some seams I was a little apprehensive using Henry 345 to level some seams in a bathroom floor repair. It seemed like a solid product but there were enough complaints about drying time and I didn't have extra time! As I write this, the second coat is now drying and the first only took about 90 minutes. I'm not sure why others may have had trouble but Virginia is about as humid as it gets. My space is fairly small and I only have about 18 linear feet of seam but the mismatch is severe enough that it will require 3 coats to feather it enough. I think the key is thin coats (no more than 1/8 inch) and I did choose to focus a running hair dryer on the thickest seam but I really recommend this product. Just go thin, apply some heat, and you should have no problems. I did withold one star for value because I had to buy a gallon for about 2.5 quarts of use. And clean your tools! This stuff will eat them!

It takes a while to dry and I accelerated the dry time by positioning a portable heater adjacent to the work. I then used a sanding stone to even out the dried filler. Dries rock hard.

I needed to raise the concrete floor before I installed a thinner border tile. I used the compound you need to mix first and wasted a lot because it hardens fast. I tried this product and found it easy to work with but depending on thickness drying time is much longer than two hours as stated. Even the thinnest layer took at least four hours to dry. After trial and error I found the best and easiest way to use this compound: 1) The instructions say to moisten the floor before use. Be very careful not to make the fooor too wet. 2) Remove some compound from container and mix it together before installing on the fooor and it is much easier to use. 3) I tried to smooth it with a dry trowel and it was difficult. I wiped the trowel with a damp rag and then it was simple and easy to smooth out the product. 4) Once hard very, very difficult to scrape or remove. I used a very sharp floor scraper to clean up any oops like where my dog left his paw print in it...lol! Bottom line is this product is excellent even with the extended drying time!

Drying time was a bit slower than stated but this may be due to working conditions, as we are using it in the basement and the temperature is cooler down there with the A/C running.
