What glue do I need to lay the cork flooring

Asked by: Gtibbetts
No glue is needed. This is a click-in-place flooring system. Planks interlock with tongue-and-groove edges, tapped into place with a mallet and “tapping tool.”

Can this be glued to 3/4" plywood as a stair tread?

Can this be glued to 3/4" plywood as a stair tread?
Asked by: Samuel
It could be, but I wouldn't unless you have a different vision of a stair tread than I. The backside is of a material you could glue it to anything, but it is cork so unless you had a way to protect the nose of the tread it will get torn apart. If you had an elevated bullnose on the end of the tread and set the cork planking into a recession behind it I can see where it would work, but not with the cork coming to the end of the tread. If you were to do that then maybe you would consider securing it with a removable trim instead of glue so if a section got overly worn you could replace it by removing the trim.

is this product suitable for installation in a bathroom?

2nd floor replace current vinyl
Asked by: ernurse95
Absolutely not, will self destruct. I have gotten away with solid glue down cork in the bath if you are careful to not let water sit on it. I love cork and have been using it for close to 20 years now. I will no longer use "engineered plank" garbage core (particle board, HDF, MDF) for anything. Even 5 coats of Traffic floor finish will not keep water out of the core; if water sits on it, say bye bye to your floor. Do yourself a favor and learn how to glue down the solid cork 12x12 tiles.

Macadamia Plank 13/32 in. Thick x 11-5/8 in. Wide x 36 in. Length Cork Flooring (22.99 sq. ft. / case) is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 88.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from New look and feel for a master closet I replaced ugly and worn carpet in the mast er closet of our newly purchased home with this product. I had done some research to gauge quality, durability, aesthetics and value prior to the purchase. Home Depot had samples available to verify color and look. I am very pleased with the outcome of this flooring. I knew that the surface would be a good fit for a master closet, where moisture was a factor, it required a thermal and softness quality, and would get reasonable traffic. I find it to be a great solution for our needs. Installation was easily handled with standard tools (circular saw, measuring devices, etc.) and the snap fit expedites the process. I laid roughly 100 sf. in an afternoon, replacing trim and all. The seams are only noticeable only by the change in grain from panel to panel, otherwise seamless in appearance. Large panels make the install very quick also. Fifth star will come with time, the floor is only 1 month old. I am considering this product for a basement shop area as part of a future project.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks great, feels great I purchased 5 boxes of this in a 9x10' laundry room. The first pleasant surprise was that I did not have 10% waste and was able to return a box. While I would not classify the installation as dead-easy, I didn't find it as irksome as some of the reviews make it sound. I did take a scrap piece and cut off the male side so that I could use it as a block for some gentle tapping with the hammer. By looking at the way the pieces go together long enough to understand the geometry, I was able to make it work with little fuss. Installation took about 11/2 hours for the room. We love the way this feels on our feet, and we find it easy to clean and resilient to mild abuse. I have a minor concern about the product's ability to withstand a major water incident (e.g. an overflowing drain) due to the fact that when I left a cut-off out in the rain, it completely curled and de-laminated overnight. Based on that, we're careful to wipe up spills and moisture. Our floor has been in service about 2 months now.

If you're going to be rough on it, I would recommend something with a more durable finish, but otherwise... This is the first floor I've installed and I was super impressed with how well it went together. The installation instructions on the manufacturer's packaging were really poor. I followed "warsky's" review and installation tips from 9/10/2015 and they made all the difference. I feel like I'm an average-skilled handywoman, so if I could install this successfully, most anyone could. It took me quite a bit longer to install than some other reviewers, but I wasn't on a tight timeline and I needed to give my back a break regularly. Be prepared to be patient with unusual cuts, such as doorways and odd angles. I recommend ordering a full 10% more, because it can be hard to reuse pieces with partial cuts. Bottom line, I'm extremely pleased with the finished product. This is a great looking, comfortable floor.

We have an area of less than 200 square feet of space, and we have had so many problems with the quality of the materials, especially due to poor packaging. We originally purchased 7 boxes of flooring, and 4 complete boxes of them were damaged to where they were unusable. At that point, we debated on returning all of it, and getting a more durable product. Foolishly, we decided to keep trying and ordered 8 more boxes, thinking that would be enough extra to get enough to finish the job. 3 of them were completely unusable, with a few boards in the other boxes that were as well. Our project is about 70% finished, and we are now waiting for 6 more boxes... hoping they will have enough usable boards to get this done. It has taken 3 weeks so far, waiting for all of the shipments, letting the materials acclimate, and scheduling the installers. Even though the cork is a cool material, it was certainly not worth the hassle this experience has been, and we are do not think it will last more than a few years. Seriously, save yourself the trouble and get something else. I wish we had.
