Will this work with a Petsafe system and collar? Also can this be spliced with a 20 gauge wire that is not solid core?
Hi Kasey237, This system will not work with a Petsafe collar. You are able to just buy our collar and transmitter upgrade kit so you don't have to replace the wire. If you have any more questions please reach out to us directly. 1-800-255-1279
Yes it will work with the Persafe system. Just make sure the wire splices are done correctly. As for combining solid and multi strand wire, I don't know.
Can this be turned off when not in use, i.e. if owner wants to have guests over for picnic around the area. Also would like to know how deep and wide trench for this would have to be, thank you
It can be turned off but leaving it on will not bother your guest. You only need to go two inches under ground and it's not a trench you just use a shovel to make a two inch cut in the soil put the wire in and cover it over
It can be turned off, but why would that be a concern? Your guests will not be shocked unless you plan on making them wear shock collars!

No. It works in conjunction with a special collar to deliver a "correction" when the animal crosses the boundary.
The dog has to being wearing a shock collar in order for the fence to work and keep the dog away
