What is the best pad for cleaning and polishing pocket knives???

Particularly old pocket knives made by case, made from high carbon steel, surface is good but has few deep stains, thinking maybe grade #0 or so to help clean it off, also handle appears to have some sort of build up preventing the original finish from coming out.
Asked by: anonymous
Thank you for your inquiry. For metal it varies, generally the most common grades used are #0 or #1. It just depends on how dirty or soiled your steel knife is. #00 would be more for polishing, and #2 would be more for etching metal.
