27 in. White Rack with 5 Satin Nickel Hooks

This was a total impulse buy at first when I saw these in one of those holiday sale boxes at the store before Christmas. Between the look and the crazy low price, it seemed like a good bet, so I got one. A few days later I went looking for more and they were gone, so I'm back here now finally ordering a few more. They look really nice for either an elegant adult space or a cute kid's space, and they are a great value considering they're priced lower than pretty much any other hook rail. But I agree with some of the low-star reviews that the screws could be a little better. They are pan head screws that stand a little proud, and a washer in there prevents you from tightening them in more if the hook wiggles a little. Indeed, I tried that and broke a screw. In taking it apart to fix is, I saw there is a second screw hole on the hook... but it's not tapped, so you can't double those up unless you tap the second hole (which I might experiment with on the next one). For mine, I drilled the holes slightly deeper so I could sink all the screws to below flush, and I replaced the screw I broke with a standard drawer-pull 8-32 screw. I would have liked to use counter-sunk screws but didn't have any handy. Mounting was easy, and I used a white enameled outdoor screw so it would vanish a little better into the wood. A plastic cap might be nice here... but it's priced low for the quality and look of those 5 hooks, so I'm not surprised a little money was saved on the plastic. In the end, I am ordering 4 more for other places around the house. I'm just also planning on swapping the screws on the back once they arrive.

The 27-inch-long five hook rack from the Home Decorator Collections adds organization to almost any location for coats, umbrellas, hats, keys, anything you can hang. The black matt finish hooks are large with good separation from the bottom hook to the top hook, about 6 inches, as each hock provides two hanging points. Each hook is about 6 inches apart. The mounting board is 27 inches long by 4 ½ wide, with two predrilled mounting locations. The top of each hook has a rounded end cap, providing secure hanging for your items. The board is a light oak grain finish, veneered onto a composite board. Finish is attractive, should clean easily, and is neutral to blend with most decors. Rack came with moly mounting hardware. My only complaint is that no matching hole caps were provided. Overall, this unit provides plenty of storage options, looks classy, and in functional.

I don't know where the chiffon lace comes from. It is a beautiful off white color. I have coats for rain, cold weather, cool weather, etc. and no place but on a chair to put them. Now I have a beautiful coat rack to hang them on and each hook is a double (2 coats). It was easy to put up on the wall. Just measure from floor or ceiling to that each end is the same distance. Then put the mounting screws in.

These hooks worked well for my needs. I was looking for hooks to hang up my coats in my hallway and grabbed this product. There are 2 pre drilled holes that are counter bored, they are 18" apart, so I had to use one of the 2 included drywall anchors, as I could not get both of screws in studs unless I drilled my own hole in the rack. I currently have about 7 lightweight, medium weight jackets and hats. This rack is sturdy enough to support them all.

I got the hook rack for my garage, not for the house. It does a nice job of holding hats and jackets and such that I leave in the garage and use for outside work. The only issue that I ran into was with the included wall anchors - the drywall in my garage was too thick for the anchors to grab. The local building code requires a thicker drywall for garage applications than it does, for example, the front hallway in the house. Since I couldn’t use the anchors included with the kit I moved onto "Plan B" and used 3" x 3/16" mushroom head toggle bolt anchors (see photo below). The anchor screws easily fit into the holes pre-drilled into the hook rack. The mushroom head on the screw does a nice job of covering the holes and this made for a very solid mount. One note - the pre-drilled holes in the rack are not 16" inches apart (the standard distance between wall studs), so you can't just drill into adjacent studs and use wood screws. Fit and finish is O.K; it's a bit of stylish overkill for my garage, which doesn't usually get stylish gear. Overall, I'm quite pleased; the installation took less than 20 minutes (I wasted some time in selecting the spot and in testing out the included wall anchors). It's a solid mount and solves a real problem for me - previous to this rack I had only a single hat hook on the back of the garage door and everything else was draped over a mop/broom rack. Now everything fits on the new rack with space to spare. For the installation I used a cordless drill, drill bit, a level, and a Philips screwdriver for the toggle bolts. HTH Regards, Jim

I have been searching for a sturdy set of hangers to mount in my master bedroom, walk in closet. The hangers needed to be sturdy and large enough to accept a large assortment of clothes, jackets, pants shirts, dresses etc. to be sorted out after washing or cleaning and hung in their proper place.. These loads are heavy and need heavy duty hangers to work properly. This Unit mounted on an oak base with larg heavy duty hangers proved to be the perfect answer as to sturdy and strong and very solid.

I LOVE these hooks. I hope they start selling them again, because I would love to purchase more of the same set. They are the perfect size and hold several jackets and purses no problem. You can't beat the price, and they look great!

Easy install as holes are 16" on center, super sturdy once screwed into studs, and looks great!
