Does this have to be mounted horizontally? Can it be mounted vertically?

Asked by MP October 1, 2020

Answers

I would not recommend mounting it in an orientation other than that pictured for several reasons. One is that when you first install it, you need to bleed the air out of both filter housings. The second is that I'm not sure how well the metal mounting bracket would support the weight of two 20" filter housings. The third is that when you go to replace the filters, you will dump alot of water out of those housings.

Asked by Clem June 26, 2019

Answer

When used and serviced as directed it will reduce or remove copper. It is not rated to remove nickel, uranium or chloride. It will however reduce or remove chlorine. Whether it reduces or removes something is largely dependent on the amount of the substance, the flowrate, the total contaminant load and other parameters not specified. Most customers on potable city or well water find a great deal of success with this system, but we urge you to contact us with your private well water report prior to purchase to ensure you get the right tool for the job. 877-693-7873 M-F 9am to 5pm MST.

Where is this made? is it BPA free?

Asked by Kim June 19, 2019

Answer

This system is assembled at our factory in Arizona using a mixture of domestic and imported components. The housings and sediment filter are imports, the steel bracket and the carbon filter are made domestically. It is BPA free.

Can I water my house plants with this filtered water? Or does it remove the nutrients plants need?

I have mine installed for over one year and my plants and trees are doing well. I do not know for a fact, but these filters should only remove heavy metals, chlorine and sediments. Call the company in AZ to confirm this.

Wil it remove calcium

No it does not, nor do we make that claim. Water softeners are most commonly used to remove calcium and hardness minerals at a whole house level. Please google Home Master the Perfect Water FAQ I'm new to this where do I begin?

So far so good. I decided on this unit because it also reduces chlormine, which my city uses in the water. Only had unit installed 2 weeks ago by a professional plumber and so far water tastes good and appears very clean. I haven't tested yet, but plan to. Also, there has been NO decrease in water pressure that I can tell. Showers and faucets appear to have the same pressure. I was at first concerned with the weight of these filters being supported by the mounting bracket, but seems fully supported and strong. Of course, you will definitely need to find your stud in the wall. I also bought the Home Master RO Artisan system for drinking to remove fluoride and anything else remaining or in our home plumbing. But honestly, the water from the faucet is very drinkable and taste as good or better than bottled spring water.

This probably has the worst installation manual of any product that actually needs a good installation manual. If you are a do-it-yourselfer, be advised that this may well drive you around the bend. Basically, I had to go from a 1/2" copper pipe to this filter. Not a problem? Well, I fix electro-mechanical things for a living, am relatively experienced and intelligent, but not a certified plumber. But this thing cost me six trips to Home Depot and to one other hardware store (HD didn't have the parts). What I learned in the process is that : 1a. My soldering skills are not what they used to be (although the HD guy salved my ego by saying that the new lead-free solder is awful). 1b. Hot, dripping solder leaves third degree burns, and sticks very well to Spouse's good towel, to Spouse's dismay. 2. A "3 inch nipple" is something else, down in the bottom row at Home Depot. You have to find the right guy to show you. 3. A black plastic PVC connection -- what the filter uses -- is not compatible with a standard white plastic PVC adapter. See #2, above. 4. Plumber's tape leaves much to be desired. 5. SharkBite connectors might be the best way to go. But open up your wallet. 6. Verify the water pressure before you think about installing this filter. You WILL lose 10 PSI. If it's too low to begin with, showering will be like someone... never mind. 7. Use three shut-offs ball valves. I do think they suggest this. 8. Install a pressure gauge downstream, after the filter's downstream shut-off ball valve. You can see the pressure with and without the filter. Ok, so the main thing is that a 3" nipple is a 1" galvanized pipe, 3" long. Not PVC, which will definitely leak. I would strongly suggest using some pipe dope or liquidy stuff. To be fair, the lion's share of the problems were due to my own ignorance and hubris. But the documentation should have said EXACTLY what parts were needed *at the filter*. And some additional "if you have this pipe use these parts" would have been wonderful; maybe another page of info? Oh, and the big carbon filter canister leaked. Good luck with that. Use all of the supplied grease! I hope I can get if off next year. I'm not sure how well the filtering actually works, but Spouse has refined taste (viz., her own selection of Spouse) and says that it tastes like the water we filter using a carafe-type thing. Spouse knows, and I accept. Long story : installation = 1 star (with diminished ego). Filtering = 5 stars (anecdotal). Longevity = ? stars (I hope a year, but how does one actually know?). So I present a qualified Recommend, if using a Real Plumber, with 3 stars as an average for the DIY. More in a few months, if my burns heal properly and we buy another towel or two.

I did my research before I decided to buy The Perfect Water Technologies Home Master Whole House 2-Stage Water Filtration System with Multi Gradient Sediment and KDF85/Catalytic Carbon . I read the reviews and ordered the filters from Home Depot. In my opinion, these twin filters had the best reviews on the Internet. But, finding someone to come over to my house to do the work was terrible. I called a water softener installer who lived on the other side of town, but he could never find the time to come and give me an estimate. I even tried Home Depot for an Installer, but no luck... So, I installed them myself. I installed the bypass valves ,I used shark bite fittings because I have never soldered anything in my life. Cooper tubing and Pex tubing were used also. Here is my advise, Take your time, don't rush, and do it yourself. The Internet is a great source of how to get the job done. The vendor who sales these filters - Perfecrt Water Technologies - has installation videos available. I studied the project for a week before I started it. Plumb and Level the filters - very important !! - . Shark bite fittings – although expensive - makes the job simple and very easy with no leaks. Read all the directions on everything to be used in the project. Sounds stupid to read directions, but do it and you will be glad you did. Use plenty of food grade silicon grease on the sump tube O rings and threaded areas. I did and had no problems with leaks. Use plenty of Teflon tape on joint ends..... My water pressure was 58 lbs before and after installation of these whole house filters. My chlorine level was 0.8 before and now I have no chlorine reading at all. My wife says our city water feels better - it's not soften - but it does feels better. The filters don't remove hard water spots, but they do remove chemicals and many substances found in drinking water. I guess you could say I'm pleased with the out come. Filtered water, no chlorine and no leaks . Good filtration system.....

This two stage water filtration system has solved our water problem. No more nasty sediment or rust or the harsh chemical smell of over chlorinated water. We had a professional plumber install the filter. It was a first for him and he had no problem following the directions. It took only a little over an hour. Now our water tastes great...no more having to buy bottled water and no more chlorine drying my hair! We should have done this years ago.

I installed this system and it produces great water quality. Very satisfied. It is pretty easy to install. Keep in mind these filter are large and heavier that I had expected. The quality of the unit is very heavy duty and excellent. The installation instructions could be better, but it is a fairly simple installation. I added a 3 rd water valve for servicing and flushing the system when we change filters. The charcoal filter produces, well charcoal when first flushed. So with the 3rd valve I can isolate these discharge to the near by drain. Who wants black ice in the ice maker? I like the fact that this system only require a filter change once a year or every 100,000 gallons. Oh use plenty of the silicone grease that comes with eh unit to install the filters. I'd buy some extra. Really lube it up. When you open the the filter and housing. You will see the manufacture has applied the silicone great verbally across the horizontal threads. Add more and make sure the o rings have good coverage. I bought this unit to match the GPM flow of a tankless hot water heater. It produces 10.5 GPM. Very good purchase, I was impressed with he quality over all.

Excellent Whole Home Water Filter
I purchased the fitler because I live at the end of Cul-De-Sac and my water heater was collecting huge amounts of sediment in the bottom. I have only had the filter installed about 6 months but I am very happy with the purchase. The construction is solid and the installation was pretty easy. The water definitely tastes better than before, and I am not noticing any hard water or scale build up under faucet heads.

We built our home almost three ago and kept experiencing black and red mold/fungus around all of our faucets. Since we had this water filtration system installed, about four weeks ago, my wife and I have noticed a dramatic improvement in the quality of the water in our home. I highly recommend this water filtration system.
